I think Shields would beat any WW the UFC has outside of GSP. | Submission wrestling is not MMA. I will give Shields the credit he deserves cause he is top notch on the ground. That being said his striking is really bad and Fitch whose striking isnt great would beat him standing. Fitch has been in there with the best has not been subbed in MMA. If there would have been 10 more seconds left in the round we would have been talking about Mayhem vs Henderson. GSP couldnt sub Alves so gives me no reason to think Shields could. I dont see him taking Alves Fitch or Kos down. Shields wont win the title in the WW division but he will make for some interesting matchups. I would much rather see NICK Diaz in the UFC instead.
Without a doubt Jake should go to the UFC if he wants to challenge himself. I mean come on he is fighting at MW cause there is no one for him to fight in Strikeforce in the WW division.

In a straight up grappling and submission match, there are a handful of people in the world that could beat Jake Shields. MMA is a whole different ball game. Fitch would finish Shields is definatly arguable, but I wouldn't base my opinion strictly on a grappling match, especially with Shields striking.

But throw in the other varibles such as Knees, elbows, kicks, clinch, etc and its a whole different fight. Fitch would most likely hold his own against Sheilds in a MMA fight, simply because he has more to work with.

I agree with wanting Nick Diaz back before ever considering Jake Shields.

I would also rather have Nick Diaz but Shields would be a good pick up by the UFC especially if he gets passed Dan. I do not think that Shields would do very well in either the UFC's middleweight or welterwieght divisions, but if he wants to truly test himself eventually he was to outgrow his strikeforce enviroment and move somewhere knew to fully capture his potential. I think he comes over and doesn't have a big impact on either of the two divisions but none the less another good mid-tier or lower upper tier guy would still be a good addition.

When Henderson whoops his ass I wouldn't mind seeing him go to the UFC so he could get his ass kicked around there.
Maybe he can have a Catch Weight Fight with Gray Maynard & the world can watch The Most Boring Fight In The World! hahaha

Shields to the UFC makes no sense. Jake has a fight against Dan Henderson. The UFC let Henderson walk because he is too old, wants too much money, and did not sell enough pay per views. There are two possible outcomes to this fight. 1. Jake wins and retains his belt. If this happens SF can not afford to lose him. The fragile state of that company may not be able to take having a reigning champ defect to the UFC. 2. Henderson beats Shields (which seems to be the most likely result). If Shields is coming off of a loss to a guy the UFC chose not to retain it decreases his value. He is known to be a talented but boring fighter. Having him on the roster would add another impossible talent to book-another Fitch. Does the UFC want Shields boring the shit out of their ppv audience with some split decision lay and prays while devaluing their current talent? It just does not make sense.

Don't see how he can beat Hendo.
Still, he should head to the UFC and test himself there after he gets beat up.

If he could mangage to find away to survive on his feet and carry it into the later rounds where Dan usually gases, he might catch him in something. But thats a big ass "IF." I hope its competitive considering I will be there live.
