dos santos in ufc hw division and overeem outside (i trully believe he is talented enough to be great so what he fights cans and bones hot european chicks and eats horse meat and possibly roids but i think it is equally likely that he gained mass without the roids he is tall and was very thin for a lwh)
mousasi in lwh outside ufc and shogun in the ufc
belfort in mw ufc
alves is only one that has chance of beating gsp at ww in ufc out of current roster
bj is only one for whom i see no rival besides age and sloth

HW: JDS
LHW: Shogun
MW: Mousassi
WW: Alves
LW: Aldo
These are my picks for 2011 UFC champs. Any further in the future is nearly impossible to predict.
Edit- Forgot Mousassi is signing a big contract w/ SF. I guess my MW pick for next year is the Spider.

^^ Moussasi is also a LHW now.
In terms of future greats, I think there is a lot of guys, especially HWs
I think JDS, Cain, and Carwin are all in the road to success (even if they all come up short on their first title shots).
I think Anthony Johnson, after a few more years, is going to be at the top of the division, and maybe even a champion. I think the same thing for Frankie Edgar. His hands are getting good and he has, obviously solid wrestling. Being a wrestler and having great striking is one of the best combinations you can have. Edgar probably won't do much to BJ Penn, but Edgar has a bright future.
Mousasi, IMO, isn't a prospect anymore. He's proven that he is a top guy. He walks through everyone.
Other guys who can definitely get things going are guys like Bader. I think Bader is going to be the best fighter to come off TUF since TUF 1 or 2 (i.e. Rashad, Forrest, Diego, Koscheck, etc). Guy has great wrestling, dynomite in his hands (which are improving), and he is humble. He isn't ahead of himself. He beat Jardine and he isn't asking for Rashad, or Thiago, or Rogerio. He wants to keep slowly going up the ladder and when it is time for a shot, its time for a shot. I think he is still pretty green in experience (i.e. going for a fancy flying knee after rocking Jardine was not a smart move. If Jardine timed it, Bader would have gone down. Luckily, Jardine went down after the next punch).

^^I would agree strongly with Anthony Johnson,I am on his band wagon.I feel like he will get bored once he gets there, for some reason.
I think Koscheck,Swick, and Fitch all make viable options for future champs, assuming they either figure out GSP or GSP leaves that class. They all just seem driven. But would they be considered next generation at this point?
At light heavy,I don't know.Ryan Bader, maybe?I suck at this game
Heavyweight,definitely Cain Velasquez.
There's just too much talent out there to tell any way.People take off outta no where sometimes, you never can tell. Some one's mom may die and light a fire under their ass.

I agree that Carwin and Rumble have bright futures, I've been on their bandwagons for a while! Hope to see Carwin make quick work of Mir when they fight.
Cain also looks like he will be a top contender a little down the road. He seems to progressing quite fast.

Tough topic, how can you make predictions in a world that has seen Serra KO GSP and Cain KO Big Nog lol? I'll bite but im sticking with UFC champs, cuz let's be honest, in this day in age you have to fight in the UFC to beat any of those guys legacies
HW:
JDS- Dude looks to be a beast in the stand up, training JJ with the Nogs and AS wont hurt his game. I say he could be champ in the next year or so.
LHW:
Jones- I guess im on the hype wagon lol but I think this guy is the real deal. Big, fast, athletic, looks good standing and has a great resume in wrestling. His next fight with Vera will show alot and after that he should have a big fight with a good name.
MW:
Im not completley sold on Sonnen. I guess im still hoping for Marquardt. I think Wandys days are behind him and Bisping wont be able to beat the top competition. If Maia keeps improving his stand up and works on his TD's, he could be a force. It's a shame he has to gets he face smashed in his next fight.
WW:
ALVES- I think this dude is badass and the future of the WW division myself, call it nut huggin if you want, but the guy obviously has one shot KO power, and his TDD is is top notch. Reminds me of a younger liddell in the way that if almost anyone at WW stands and bangs with him they'll lose. His next fight with Fitch will certainly tell alot and cement the #2 WW.
LW:
I like Evan Dunham. The guy is still young and is dangerous in any position because has KO power and awsome subs.
Now with that said, not many of them would surpass the legacies of the current UFC champs. Penn,GSP,Anderson have their respective divisions locked up for a loong time IMO, it would take some impressive streak to beat them.
Jones wont surpass Lidell, but if were using Randy for HW I think JDS has a chance.

ryan bader can do it but it is shogun and machida division for at least another year or more so the rest will have to sick back, as for hw i think mir, cain and jds can own but gg can be a beast with proper training and coaching

I think the LHW division is so dangerous right now anyone is a threat. Randy,Forest, lil Nog, Rashad and Thiago are all title contenders. If Rua wins the rematch I think Rashad,Forest and Randy could beat him. If Machida retains I think Randy,Forest and Rashad could beat him. No one at LHW is safe, thats why the title has played merry-go-round for the last few years. WHich is a shame, because it seems when the LHW title has a constant champion their the poster boy for the UFC.
As for the next gen champions.
HW-JDS,Struve, and Cain. I think Carwin is overrated, and untested.
LHW- Bader, Thiago, Luis.
MW- Chael, Nate, Miller, and Maia.
WW- Alves, Fitch, Daley.
LW- Grey, Frankie, Diego.
