| UFC on Versus 2 set for August 1 in Oakland Quote:
With its Versus debut in the books, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has already secured a second event on the cable station's lineup.
Following Sunday's successful UFC on Versus 1 event, a Versus official confirmed that UFC on Versus 2 will take place on Aug. 1.
The event takes place in Oakland, Calif., which hosts its first-ever UFC event, at the 19,500-seat Oracle Arena. MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) is working to confirm additional details of the late-summer show.
Sunday's debut, which took place at the 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colo., marked a new partnership between Versus and Zuffa LLC, the parent company of both the UFC and World Extreme Cagefighting, which has been on the all-sports cable station since 2007.
Upon the initial announcement of the deal in December, which also marked the extension of live WEC events on the cable station, officials announced that two 2010 UFC event also would air on Versus.
There's no word if the partnership extends beyond this year.
UFC on Versus 2 takes place a month after a planned July 3 UFC 116 event, which is expected to take place in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. It also takes place four weeks before the UFC's planned Boston debut, a pay-per-view show targeted for Bean Town's TD Garden.

and Direct TV and Versus came to an accord so double check if you have direcTV.

This might be my first MMA event as I live close to Oakland...tomorrow, I'm gonna go see Raw in San Jose...but I'd rather go see UFC than WWE...I was struggling big time trying to find a good link to this versus card...I missed the first two fights and caught the last two...kinda...they were blurry and now for UFC on versus 2, I might see em live!!! yeah!

Spike TV = UFC Fight Nights
VS. = UFC on Versus 1, 2, 3 ect...
I don't think they'll have a problem with either one of the programs. Just for publicity for the sport to get onto different sports channels, and slowly grow on ESPN.

It'll be interesting to see how well this show did compared to the latest WEC events. It may be better for both Zuffa and Versus to scrap the WEC altogether and just add the Featherweight and Bantamweight divisions into the UFC. The UFC brand is what sells more than any one particular fighter, and having two more exciting divisions and two more champions to promote would add more depth to each card and allow the UFC to run more shows.
