| Dana On Strikeforce: "Its A Fight Until One Of Us Goes Away" Fighters Only Magazine - The World's Greatest MMA Magazine - News - Dana on Strikeforce: "Its a fight until one of us goes away" Quote:
If there were any lingering doubts about his intentions towards Strikeforce, UFC president Dana White removed them all in an open declaration of war following last night’s ‘UFC on Versus’ event, saying that there would be “a fight until somebody goes away - and believe me when I tell you, its going to be them.”
Interestingly, White’s ire was not directed at Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker, whom he professes respect for, but Strikeforce’s partners at the Showtime television company.
"I really, really, really dislike these guys at Showtime. I really dislike them… well, I shouldn't even say 'the guys' – there's a guy there, and he's a [expletive]. I don't like him, and you guys know how I am. So, it is what it is, and unfortunately Scott's caught in the middle,” he said at the post-fight press conference.
"This is a fight. They started the fight with me. I didn't start the fight; they did. And you know how I get, and that's really what it's all about…. "We're going to fight until somebody goes away. Believe me when I tell you it's going to be them."
Sticking to tried and tested tactics that hurt EliteXC and Affliction Entertainment, the UFC will likely be counter-programming Strikeforce throughout the year, although White dismissed rumours of an April 17th event to go head-to-head with Strikeforce’s event, which will air on CBS.
"I was never putting an April 17 show on,. The media started calling me and asking me. I just let it ride out and let [Strikeforce] sweat it. F*ck them. You want to compete with us? Let's do it,” he said. “"I never, ever said I was doing an April 17 show. People asked me questions, and I said, 'Hmm, that's interesting.' I played a little bit.”
White also said he will most likely be putting a bid in for Jake Shields, the Strikeforce middleweight champion, when his contract expires after the April 17th fight with Dan Henderson. Win or lose, Shields will be a free agent after the fight while White has two ways to win: either by stealing one of Strikeforce’s main stars or forcing them to spend extra money to retain him by pushing his price up with a bidding war.

Just don't see how Strikeforce plans on winning this one.
We've seen what happens when the UFC decides to directly compete with another organisation. It generally doesn't end well and Strikeforce is no super power to take on the marketing behemoth that is the UFC.
UFC is so ingrained that the brand itself had all but become a genericized trademark for MMA.

I look at mma the same way I look at most sports now. Everybody has their brand. There's always going to be the biggest brand. for hockey it's the NHL, for basketball the NBA baseball, it's the MLB. the UFC is just the mma big leagues, where every aspiring mmaer dreams one day to fight in.
in North America, it will always be the UFC, and any other brand competing is going to be ruthlessly snuffed out, as we've seen with Elite XC and Affliction and others, meanwhile I think Dana will let the foreign promotions continue to compete. like Dream. competition is good, and it gives the up and comers and the has beens a place to continue fighting.

The UFC is going to be the pinnacle of mma in the united states just as the NFL is for Football and the NHL for hockey, but it wasn't always that way with any of those sports. But i like the NHL, NFL and don't mind one dominant org. having most of the best players. I also don't mind dream ect i look at them like maybe the KHL or the swedish superleagues, nice for up and comers and can make a good home for guys who stay their for their whole careers. I do not think Strikeforce will survive and hope the UFC can pick up some of their top fighters and put on more shows and hopefully one day get so popular where they can air fights on like NBC or staion like that monthly or bi-weekly and make money through advertisements. But only time will tell..

Strikeforce is going to survive for some years, but there is no way they are going to "defeat" UFC.
Dana White clearly shows that he doesnt give a shit about the real development of the sport, because he wants SF and other organizations to dissappear, and that will affect MMA. The MMA world will be horrible if UFC is going to be the only organization.
