i honestly for the life of me can not figure this out. it is a valid form of striking. ive really only heard of one fighter opposed to elbows and that was from a hw who only has one lose due to an elbow cut (although it was an illegal blow)
i have to ask, whats your opinions on knees to the head of a down opponent and soccer kicks? | Jon Jones is a perfect example of why elbows shouldnt be allowed. In his last two fights there was a stoppage from elbow strikes. Against Hamill(who is one strong fucker), Jones let some sick elbow combinations with 85 inch reach go on Matt Hamill's face............for one, nobody could have got out of that position, NOBODY!!!........second, could Jones have really finished that fight without any elbow strikes?? and if he could, then it would have been more entertaining then seeing Hamill with a caved in nose.
Against Vera, seeing that elbow connect with that sound wasnt cool. That whole event was actually brutal, no quality fights at all. But Vera vs Jones could have been so much more entertaining with Vera actually testing Jones, which couldnt happen due to three broken bones in Vera's face from one elbow.
How good is Jon Jones.......we might never know if he caves every face in the LHW division with his 85 inch reach. He could and might stop every future fight with those elbows which hide his true potential and excitement, unless the elbows is why you watch MMA Jon Jones is capable of MMA's first death in the octagon.
PS- Soccer kicks are talentless. I think knees to a downed opponent are better then elbows!
