Might have something to do with comments like this: UFC on Versus 1 Analysis: The Main Card
UFC fans had to wait a full month for their latest mixed martial arts fix from their favorite organization, a wait to which they were not accustomed after the recent glut of shows. They were looking for something into which to sink their teeth. Unfortunately, there was not much available to them, thanks, in part, to the shortcomings in the Unified Rules. The event painfully showcased the weaknesses in a set of rules drawn up 10 years ago. |
Under the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts, no upkicks or downward elbows to the body are legal, and those two rules caused the competitors trouble on Sunday at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colo. What’s more, a fighter playacted and appeared to intentionally put his hands or knees down to provoke illegal strikes.
Not knocks on the UFC, but on the Unified Rules.
Although I don't check Sherdog's site too much, they do good pre-fight breakdowns. Their fight breakdown often make the UFC countdown shows look stupid and extremely biased towards selling how even both fighters are.
I think it might have something to do with their coverage of prelim fights. They must use cell phones to publish play by play shit....and their prelim coverage is up to the minute, while UFC prelim's are usually aired throughout the broadcast....and live UFC events, including aired fights (not main events) can often be delayed a couple minutes.
Maybe the UFC is pissed that Sherdog has the results posted and play by play before the event is actually aired on PPV.
Hopefully all this means that Sherdog will start to feature and push other MMA promotions onto their main page instead of more than half the shit on their site being targeted to the UFC.
When there is a main DREAM or Sengoku event, they usually have 1 article on it and feature it on their site for a day maybe 2 max.....then some lame media release comes out about a UFC fighter....like GSP not underestimating Hardy (actually MMANews does it too, but everyone wants to have new content regardless if it's newsworthy or not)
Is anyone actually surprised or find that GSP is not underestimating Hardy is really a news worthy story? You could re-write that same story more than a dozen times a year everytime there is a heavily favored fighter taking on a challenger just by swapping some names.
To get back to the topic, still interested to see what is up...and what Sherdog is going to do to get their media passes back or what they will do to retaliate.
