Default Marquadt turned down the fight against Michael Bisping

Quote:
Nate "The Great" Marquadt holds an impressive record of 29-9 and is currently ranked in the top five in the middleweight division, however, Marquadt lost the number one contender fight to Sonnen at UFC 109 and then when he got the opportunity to rebound from that loss by fighting Bisping at UFC 114, he had to turn that fight down.

“They offered me Bisping for May 29th but I have a baby due on May 27th so I turned it down. I don’t want to have any regrets in life, like ‘Man, I missed my kid’s birth,’” Marquardt told today’s Fight Club Q & A session.

Nobody can doubt Marquadt decision to not take the fight, as a birth of a kid is more important than a fight as Marquadt can fight Bisping or someone else any other time. While, for Bisping he is set to face Dan Miller at UFC 114.

Well i think that is a great reason although i would have loved to have seen Nate destroy Bisping.

I totally respect the man for his decision. Although It really is a shame. After that brutal loss to Sonnen he would have looked to destroy Bisping. Who wouldn't want to see that?

If nobody can doubt his decision, why wasn't the title something like "Marquart turns down fight due to impending fatherhood" or something like that. The title makes it seem like he punked out.

People don't buy the mags that say, "Brad and Angelina happy and doing nothing today". -

And I totally agree with you.

Going from a potential Marquart fight to a Dan Miller fight? His opponent just got quite a bit easier, Miller is a tough ass guy but I think this fight is Bispings to win...and that pains me greatly to say.

Exactly, it's needless drama...but if I'm off the beaten path enough to be at Lowkick.com and the title said "Marquardt turns down Bisping due to impending fatherhood" I'd still click on it. It's a free click, it's not like I'm paying for it in a supermarket or something.

It's a shame I'm always ready for a Bisping beating, but a kid is only born once and I respect that.

My sentiments exactly. Would have loved to see Nate maul old Pillow Hands, it would help him get back on the winning track. Nate is such a strong MW, his one-sided loss to Chael shocked me. That has to mess with a fighter's head a little.
