Carwin was a bit surprised that referee Dan Miragliotta broke up the action against the cage during round one -- but not as surprised when he let Mir take several unanswered blows after collapsing face down on the canvas. Any Maniacs out there that don't have a problem with the stoppage?

Yeah Dan is very poor ref. He has some very unconsistant calls and awkard standups. I was suprised he did not stop the fight when Mir first buckled (Thinking back to Ferdum vs Vera) and even more shocked when he let Frank just lay face down on the floor taking shots. He also bothced the Fitch fight earlier in the night, letting the crowd dictate his stand ups. He really has no business in the cage because he gets it wrong more times than right. Herb, Josh, and Mario should be the only ones assigned to big name fights because their mistakes are minor.

You also gotta give the fighter the chance to suffer major brain damage apparently. Really, I'm sure most people watching noticed he was done the shot after his knees buckled and you knew for sure he was done when he was prone on the ground and took a sick temple shot. He then proceeded to take 4 more shots before Derelict Dan got in there for the stoppage.

Yeah, that fight was a mess as far as reffing. I have no clue why the first break up took place. Carwin was very busy punching Mir in the face and stomach and punishing the legs/knees pretty badly. The stoppage was horrible. When there is a point when you can remove one fighter and the other one will continue to lay on the floor, the fight is over.

Its not that Dan is a Mir fan, its just that he is the worst referee in the entire universe.

Preach guys, the guy is awful. He completely reacted to the crowd booing and stood fighters up/broke up the clinch in a few fights last night. Plus he almost let Frank Mir get a fucking concusion for all those uneeded shots... if anything I'd say he's not a big Mir fan as he let him take a shit load of excesive damage lol.

What about the part when Carwin got onto of Mir's back when Mir was face down and hit Mir in the head until Mir's arms went limp at his side....THAT'S when a ref is supposed to step in. But he didn't so Mir got hit quite a few more times with Carwin actually looking at the ref like, really?

I didn't want to insinuate he was a fan. Instead, I wanted to provoke peoples' thoughts on a slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww stoppage. Chalk another one up on the tally board for ol'Mirguausklylotta.
