Tickets for Shine Fights' third event, "Worlds Collide: Mayorga vs. Thomas," are now on sale at the organization's Web site and Ticketmaster locations.
The event takes place May 15 at Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, N.C., and airs on pay-per-view a headliner between UFC veteran Din Thomas and boxer Ricardo Mayorga.
Tickets range from $25 to $150, and military personnel get a $5 discount on all but the $150 tickets.
Other notables scheduled to compete on the card include PRIDE and EliteXC star Murilo "Ninja" Rua, 2009 Abu Dhabi Combat Club champ Braulio Estima, undefeated MMA fighter and former Olympian Rick Hawn, and UFC/StrikeForce veteran Nick Thompson.
Matchups and a complete card will be announced in the coming weeks.
The event has drawn some interest because of the MMA fighter vs. boxer headliner. Although such matchups have been booked in the past (Tim Sylvia vs. Ray Mercer, for example), Mayorga vs. Thomas features two combat-sports stars not too far removed from their most successful pro years.
"I am a blue-collar brawler, and I know who pays the rent and how I buy my Nicaraguan cigars, my beers and everything else," Mayorga stated. "It's the fans, and I love them all, even the ones who jeer me. Anyone who thinks this is some joke will be shocked at how easily I handle this Thomas character with my hand speed and dynamite power."
The pay-per-view broadcast, available in high-definition with either English or Spanish commentary, costs $29.95 and includes a 30-minute preview show.
I think this might be a pretty good event and for only 29.99 i will be watching this hoping din takes this boxer out. It be a nice win for mma vs boxing, we have seen a few like mercer v silvia and i guess kimbo v mercer, din needs to get this w for mma, i think din is a good mma fighter, he aint gonna tim silvia it, so should be good
