| UFC 112's Concert Arena - construction pics
Link: UFC 112: Arena Photos Show Construction Progress -- MMA Fighting
Looks pretty awesome. I am super stoked for this card - which IMO is one of the most stacked in the last few years - and also stoked for the first-ever outdoor UFC event.
I've never worked in construction, but doesn't it look like this new venue is a little "behind schedule" for this stage of the game? The article says these were from "a week ago"; the event is in one week. So 2 weeks of construction from these photos to the actual event.
I remember that a couple months ago Dana actually conceded in a press event of some kind (before the official announcement of UFC 112) that the 112 card was in danger of not being held on April 10th due to construction timelines. I guess since they made the official announcement, they no longer worry about the timeline - but it seems to me like things are being cut a little close.

Dude you see all those field offices, they have so many people working there, they'll finish. I wanna know who paid for that and how much it cost.

The arena looks great.
About this being the best card in the last few years I dont agree, I think UFC 110, 100, 84 were better and 113 will be better.

As I understand it, Flash Entertainment is paying 100% of the cost of the thing. I don't recall hearing how much it is though. Quote: |

I agree that 100 & 84 were better. UFC 110 was close; and UFC 113 comes after UFC 112 chronologically
The best UFC ever is somewhat subjective, but can be objectively demonstrated via participation of top fighters as measured by something like Bloody Elbow's "consensus" rankings.
I don't say UFC 112 is the BEST UFC card in the past few years, but IMO it's up there. Having two title fights alone - featuring two of the best fighters in the sport defending their long-held belts - makes it pretty solid, as UFC PPV's don't often feature multiple title defenses any more.

In those two pictures provided, there seems to be a lot of space for something...something big, maybe an entrance structure? I know, most likely not, but being a wrestling fan, I would love to see Anderson Silva or BJ come out to an epic entrance.
Anyone else agree?

Anyone else agree? | I have no idea if that's what they are building here - I assume not - but I agree with you that it would be cool
Sometimes I think about what my "ideal" MMA arena would look like. I know this: it would have a LONG ass entrance ramp - and it would be a ramp, coming down from a great height (flanked by fans in seats though) to the ring/cage on the floor. I like the idea of these grand entrances for big-league MMA. PRIDE came fairly close to my ideal in terms of some of their entrances, but I would tweak it a little.
Probably never happen in the UFC though.

UFC 84 had Tito vs Machida, BJ Penn vs Sherk, Jardine vs Wandelei, which is a decent card.
UFC 112 has two title fights with the most entertaining champions in the game. BJ always brings excitement every fight at 155 and Spider brings it every fight too(you cant count the Thales Leites fight). Hughes vs Gracie should also be killer. I guess time will tell!

I'm not that excited for 112 as I thought I would be, I just don't see either challenger having a chance.
