I'm already hyped up for the Lesnar/Carwin unification title fight. As Bloody Elbow pointed out, Mir/Carwin was the first UFC HW title fight (albeit an interim fight) where both contestants had to cut to make 265; and Carwin/Lesnar will obviously be the same.

I was struck by a picture of Brock/Carwin in the cage after the fight. I've extracted part of it below. While Brock looked much bigger in the cage than Carwin, Shane's main weapon is the power in his huge hands. To that end, I was shocked by the disparity in hand size shown in the attached picture. Lesnar is a huge human being, and Carwin's hands make his look actually small.



One thing is clear - you take one decent shot from fists like that, with the weight and muscle of someone like Carwin behind it, you find yourself on strange street. Brock better try to put Carwin on his back early and keep him there until the fight is over.

You guys see how the glove doesn't completely wrap up Carwin's hand? The UFC actually called up Jakks Pacific to make custom gloves for Carwin...here's a picture..

The pic is actually quite misleading. Both guys wear very large custom gloves and both have very similar hand structure. In that pic however it seems smaller, but I can assure you that if Brock just got done pummeling Mir face with his right fist, you would see a similar disparity.

The glove makes Carwins fist look alot bigger than it really is. Although, his fist is probably still bigger than lesnars, just not by as much as what's seen in the picture. It's also the angle and Brock closing his fist tightly where Carwins fist is a bit more loose.

its been documented before on some of the count down shows that carwin has to wear bigger gloves than brock

There were quite a few things that would cause the difference in look in the two guys. For one thing, Lesnar was wearing a suit with padded shoulders and dress shoes, both of which make him look bigger then he really is. Carwin was barefoot, and as someone said beating the crap out of Frank Mir probably made his hands a little swollen, and in the picture they look swollen and red. But ya, I too have heard that while both fighters have to wear custom gloves, Carwin's gloves are larger then Lesnar's.

I'm glad Carwin got to fight Mir before Lesnar, it makes the title fight that much more exciting. While Couture was a tougher fight for Lesnar then Mir was in the 2nd fight, I think most people still consider the avenging of his loss Lesnar's biggest win. Carwin beat Mir down imo worse then Lesnar did, and Carwin's undefeated/never out of the first round streak is incredible, so I think he's going into the fight with more momentum then Lesnar. I think a lot of MMA fans are going to see Carwin as a favorite to win, even if Vegas might not.
