| Thiago Alves vs. Jon Fitch @ UFC 115 Vancouver Quote:
After having successful surgery to repair a brain anomaly just last week, Thiago "Pitbull" Alves will indeed get back to action as quickly as he had hoped with the original match he was preparing for in March when he faces Jon Fitch in Vancouver at UFC 115 in June.
The announcement was made late Sunday night by UFC president Dana White via his personal Twitter account.
Alves and Fitch met for the first time nearly four years ago, with Fitch coming out on top via TKO after a vicious upkick stunned the Brazilian, and he finished the fight with punches on the ground.
Ever since that time, Alves has been gunning for another shot at Fitch and the two looked to have that rematch at UFC 111 in March before a scary medical situation happened forcing Alves out of the fight.
Just days prior to the event, Alves had a pre-fight CAT scan that revealed a problem in the fighter's brain that the athletic commission in New Jersey could not overlook and he was forced off the card. Fitch remained on the show and defeated last minute replacement Ben Saunders by unanimous decision.
Alves remained in New York where the doctors were able to perform surgery, and immediately the American Top Team fighter was asking when he could train to fight again.
It looks like he'll get his wish and the fight he's been asking for when he faces Jon Fitch at UFC 115 in Vancouver.
The UFC just solidified the location of the show last week after some back and forth with the local government, but things were settled and the promotion will make it's debut in the city that just hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics a few months ago.

I didn't doubt for a minute that this fight would be back on after TA was ok. I like this match for a number of reasons. Mainly because both these fighters fought GSP and instead of giving them both a title shot AGAIN. One will get it and the other will have to really earn it with a few more wins.
Btw...Jon Fitch by a boring wrestlefest.
Off-topic....
IF!!! they ever fought I think Jon Fitch vs. Jake Shields maybe the most boring fight I can think of right now.

Why should Alves get another shot at the title if he beats Fitch? He should have to win a couple fights first.
If Kos kills Daley, and Fitch beats Alves.....who gets the shot at GSP? Kos or Fitch?

^If Alves beats Fitch and Daley beats Kos...then Alves should get GSP.
If Alves beats Fitch and Kos beats Daley then I could see Kos/Alves while we wait for the winner of Fitch/GSP.

What if Daley vs Kos be draw and Fitch vs Alves draw , who get title shot then? o.O

I am very happy they made this again because it was the one I really wanted to see recently.
Look Alves gets a shot, because in ALL honesty I believe he fared better than any other "current GSP era" opponent. I understand Fitch took him to 5 rounds too, but no offense GSP is NOT the same guy with the same camp and strategy.
This fight will be interesting and I do not think it is going to spend too much time on the ground like others have done with Fitch. This might end with a very resounding KO by Alves. I would almost bet the house on it.
On a side note, Kos is going to have a tough time with Daley, if he doesn't keep his hands up. The biggest lesson Kos should have learned after Thiago is don't be predictable with your head movement. He keeps lowering his chin and keeps his body weight forward. if he can learn to move a lil bit like Machida with body forward and head/neck back a bit, he will take Daley no problem.
For some reason I don't see Fitch or Kos coming out of this unscathed. Just a hunch.

And it was three rounds of absolute dominance by GSP and as you said he's even better now. While in my opinion Kos hasnt changed much at all. I think if he faced GSP now he would get destroyed.

agreed, i think fitch takes it by boring decision as well. i will be rooting for alves.
fitch is a great fighter obviously with all of his combined wins, but if the guy is going to remain on the main cards on ppv, he really needs to turn it up.

I hope Alves knocks Fitch out cold, as the only other possible outcome to the fight would be Fitch dry humping Alves for 3 rounds
The last time Fitch beat Alves, Alves was alot smaller and his TD defense has gotten better.

WOW all this talking about fitch when half you praise gsp for doing the same thing with less damage?? i just think this is funny, you cant down one guy for it then praise another. this is mma you use what wins and fitch uses his wrestling and wins, now gsp uses his wrestling and wins, tho i think its not the best way to win but it is the way to win
