Default Hughes vs Newton1, should have been a draw

Just interested in your opinions, i believe this was a crap decision, should have been a draw, both fighter were clearly out
Matt hughes even says he was out when he jumps to side of octagon.
Don't know what was said at the time, was that why he got rematch.

I would agree that it should have been a draw. But, from the view of Big John, the slam was an offensive move that knocked Newton out and also he didn't have the angle to see Hughes' face.

Yea it should've been a draw. But the rematch closed the book on that.

i actually think the win should have gone to newton, since he choked out hughes before being KOed. either way, he got a rematch and lost decisively. i just can't imagine how the UFC would have been if hughes never won the belt that night. newton probably would have had it for a while. or we could have even seen sherk or trigg as champ.

Yes Agreed, Hughes went to sleep and fell down and newton landed on his head and went to sleep, Hughes was out before Newton therefore, McCarthy fugged up and cost Newton the belt.

Hughes won the fight. If this was a fight on the street it would be Hughes walking home that night and Newton laying on the sidewalk unconscious.Hughes beat Newton in a rematch anyway so can we please let this thing go?A fights ,a fight.Shit happens!!!

Whoa, no way to tell who would win a street fight between these two so why bring it up. If it was a street fight someone would have jumped in or something.

But this is an organized sport, not a street fight, there are rules and guidelines, that's what makes this sport so great. In a stret fight you can gouge, fish hook, small digit breaking, etc. Rules make the sport what it is.

How many times in the UFC to you see someone with North and South positioning where in a street fight they would be unloading knees to the head and face? Over 50% of the fights I would say, it is a common position because the UFC fighters know they won;t get punished with knees if their shit gets stuffed.

I'm not saying who would win between them in a streat fight ,I'm saying had the same circumstances of their first fight happend on the streat it'd be Hughes walking home ,not Carlos.Hughes got up first and he won the fight.

I don't know what street fights you watch, but people generally don't jump in. Considering it was Hughes and Newton I highly doubt someone would jump in too. That would be something, though, seeing someone slap on a triangle during a street fight.
