| Strikeforce On CBS Overnight Ratings Down 30 Percent - 2.63 Million Viewers Strikeforce On CBS Overnight Ratings Down 30 Percent - 2.63 Million Viewers - Bloody Elbow Quote:
The stats show that ratings actually dropped during the last half hour of the show’s alloted two hour time-slot on CBS – though in fact the show actually ran on longer than that so we will have to wait until later on in the week to find out how the rest of the show fared.
To give you a rough idea of where those numbers compare to previous MMA events on the CBS network. Please note these are the final ratings for these events which tend to be higher than the overnights.
• First EliteXC on CBS: Averaged 4.85 million viewers
• Second EliteXC on CBS: Averaged 2.57 million
• Third EliteXC on CBS: Averaged 4.56 million
• Strikeforce: Fedor Vs Rogers On CBS: Averaged 4.042 million (3.79 million in the overnights)
• Strikeforce Nashville: Averaged 2.63 million (based on the overnights)
The figures do not bode well for Strikeforce’s long-term future on the CBS network
| Man of what happened and now this? Bye bye Strikeforce...at least on CBS anyways.

There wasn't any real moment in any of the 3 fights that would have prompted a casual fan watching to call up friends and say Man turn to CBS this fight is wicked. On paper a great card...in reality 3 pretty much ho-hum fights.

If I remember correctly a lot of people thought 3 million would tune in. I thought a 3 million number was playing it conservatively. To only hit 2.63 given the names on the card is very disappointing.
For comparison's sake, Fight Night 21 had 1.6 million viewers.

i agree. i mean it was decent but not spectacular. calling it bad is an overstatement.....i would say more like uneventful. the melendez aoki fight was similar to any anderson silva fight against a bjj wizard minus the comedy. hendo looked like shit after the first round and it became acidemic for sheilds at that point (not taking anything away from sheilds but come on, after dan blew his wad halfway through the second round it wasnt much of a fight as hendo didnt even really try to escape) the announcing was horrible. the best fight was the first fight but there really wasnt anything spectacular to hold the interest of the causal fan. i thought last weeks bellator fights were much more entertaining. this might be the end of strikeforce on cbs and that could cause them to struggle as a promotion. i think they really needed cbs if they were ever going to become a breakout promotion and compete with the ufc.

Yeah, the casual watcher would have easily got bored of any fight and turned the channel. Nothing stuck out that was amazing, or something that you HAVE to see.

aren't these numbers are based on the 9-11 timeslot? the brawl happened close to midnight so the number of people that saw the brawl may not be what the ratings indicate. either way looks like much less people watched this then other cbs events so id guess the # of casual fans that would judge the sport based on the brawl is probably minimal.

I wonder how/if this will affect Fedor's current contract & negotiations. I seem to remember hearing his contract has a clause stating his fights must air on CBS. If there happens to be any fallout from the last night show (as some people's opinion state), his contract may be void.
M-1 could also use the lower ratings as leverage "proving" Fedor's value to Strikeforce.

Too many fights that didn't appeal to the more "random" fan.
It was a decent card but only if you were familiar with Kingo Mo, Moussasi. Sheilds etc before the programme.
If weren't familiar with these names before the card was announced then these "UFC Fans" they're trying to pull across may only know Hendo and he was 3/2 in the UFC.
They've got to work out how to build their own fighters into "big" names without just relying on one "name" to carry an entire card.
Could be the beginning of the end here. Seen it happen so many times now.

What about the horrible management of getting Fedor's name out to the public. So Fedor is the top guy in your promotion and you don't mention his name once for 3 1/2 hours on national television? Strikeforce has no idea what they are doing and it clearly shows. This is just one point of many.
