| Dana White - "Jake Shields is definitely coming to the UFC" Fighters Only Magazine - The World's Greatest MMA Magazine - News - Dana: "Jake Shields is definitely coming to the UFC" Quote:
Strikeforce middlweight champion Jake Shields is “definitely coming to the UFC,” according to Dana White. The UFC president says Strikeforce have shown their champion a lack of respect recently and that this will prompt him to jump ship.
“Jake Shields is definitely going to leave Strikeforce, and he’s definitely coming to the UFC… They never respected Jake Shields, who is their champion. They didn’t even have him in their commercials for the fight. Then the fight happens and Jake Shields wins,” White told All Headline News.
White also accused Strikeforce of backing Henderson to win the fight and thus alienating Shields (although it must be borne in mind that Shields was openly talking about moving to the UFC prior to last week’s event).
“They were like, ’Oh my God. [Shields] won. What do we do?. I think they sent [Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller] in there to challenge him, so that if Jake leaves, it looks like he doesn’t want to fight Miller. That‘s not the way you do it. You let the winner speak, then you ask him at the end about whether he‘s willing to fight Miller.”
Shields beat Henderson by unanimous decision in their fight last weekend, surprising fans and pundits alike. Henderson went into the cage as the favourite and nearly put Shields away in the first round. But he was eventually outworked by his opponent and now Strikeforce is in the awkward situation of having a champion who is apparently keen to leave and join their rivals.

Jake would be a great addition to the UFC. I dont know if he would fit better at MW or WW. Thier is good matchups at either divison.

I think Jake would be great in the UFC WW division. He's too small for MW - does he even have to cut to make 185?

i am almost positive he did cut a decent amount for the hendo fight and he did look to have strengthened his core muscles which im sure aided him in his single leg take downs and top position but appaently not his striking

Jake was heavily booed after this past fight with Hendo and his previous fight against Mayhem. Deserved each win....showed improvement with his win over Henderson.
I don't see a UFC crowd giving him a warm reception if he fights the same way that he has for his last 2 fights.
It will be interesting to see Jake fighting with people using elbows...been I while since I seen him take some elbows. Rematch with Carlos Condit, or even better Yushin Okami (which most people thought Yushin won in Rumble on the Rock) Some great matchups for him because of their depth at WW.

Question: If he comes to UFC, should he get an immediate shot at GSP?

But in all seriousness they would make bank billing it as champion vs. champion for a Shields v. GSP fight. I think Dana will give it to him immediately.

I hope Jake does go the the UFC. There is not much competition in Strikeforce for him, and there is not a contender in the UFC ww division that I would rather see fight GSP than Jake Shields.
