I doubt Machida's leg looked anything close to that in his fight with Shogun (otherwise we would have seen pics up all over the place) so I really don't understand the logic in comparing the kicks that were landed on Faber's leg to those that landed on Machida, especially since Faber didn't counter at all and was crippled right from the beginning.
As far as the "leg kicks don't win fights" argument goes, I think it just depends on the context of the fight. Sure leg kicks score and they do hurt but if they're countered with a punch to the face, how would that be scored? I think the punch to the face would get the advantage in that exchange....
