Vera isn't ready to fight for the title, he's said so himself. Of course he's being rushed, just like Monson was. UFC's HW division is desperate for title contenders and they're putting anyone with talent on the fast-track to the title. Someone else may know if it's been announced, but I wouldn't be surprised if one of the weight classes of TUF 5 is heavyweight just as an attempt to farm some big guys for the UFC's stockpile of fighters.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't all the past seasons had two weight classes? Seems shortsighted on UFC's part to only include one weight class when they so desperately need some HW's. Even if they are mid to low-tier fighters.

IMO they need to quit this 'You win the ultimate fighter show and you get a shot at the title' stuff. It just seems premature, and they're essentially feeding these guys to the champs. There's always an outside chance of an upset, but let's be realistic and admit that these are not legit contention fights. They are minor leaguers with impressive showings being fed to major league veterans. Well, except for Sylvia.

yeah i dont understand tuf 5, there lw's are stacked and they want to do a whole show about them its stupid, do it all about hw or lhw or mw and hw,

LW being a new class and HW's desperately needing fighters, I could see the reasoning in running a show like that. All one weight class doesn't seem to make as much sense IMO.

i agree that the HW,LHW and MW divisions all need more help then the LW but they just had MWs on TUF4 and the LW division has just been brought back so they are goin to try to use this season as a launching pad for the division. Hopefully the 8 vets will be some of the top guys and it will be a top notch tournament at least after the first round. Also maybe them focusing the show on LWs is a foreshadowing of some big acquistions in the HW and LHW divisions thus eliminating the need to be giving away a title shot in one of those divisions. Just a thought though
