So it seems like a pretty much done deal that Vera will get his shot at Sylvia as soon as UFC68. My question is do you guys think he is truly ready or is he being rushed into the match because of the huge lack of depth in the HW division? I for one would like to see him in atleast one more fight before getting a title shot but thats when the lack of depth rears its ugly head, who could u possibly put him in with at HW, AA is the only one i can think of that would be a big test and they wouldnt do that because if AA were to beat Vera there would be no HW Title match left. Hopefully the UFC will open up its wallet and bring in some impact free agents.

Ready for Sylvia? Yes.

However, he is being rushed - he even said himself he would rather wait a while before taking the belt as he would like a long reign.

i mean he is being rushed, but he even said if its offered he wouldnt refuse because he just dont like tim and feels like he can beat him, and all this talk about fighting aa first is goofy until aa wins his fight the 30th because if he looses then what there going to give aa vs vera when aa is 0-3 in his last 3 fights and vera is undefeated, dana is just pushing for someone to get the belt off tim, if by chance tim wins, tim will be fighting again vera soon until that belt is off him because dana wants a marketable ufc hw champ who can sell tickets and tim cant, vera is faster, better striker, better on the ground better at everything, but is his chin tough if his chin is strong then he shoudnt have a problem beating tim

he is being rushed. but the ufc is desperate. vera should fight another fight....but he can't really fight arlovski 1st, because that would make aa the #1 contender again, and they sure as hell ain't gonna have him and silvia fight for the 4th time. so they are feeding him the title shot in hopes of him dethroning tim. and with vera's aggressive fighting style, i think he has a very good chance.

I agree with most of what you said but im just wondering what are you basing the last sentence in which u say Vera has a strong chin on? I like Vera and all but when has his Chin really been tested?

With Pride's recent troubles I see the UFC getting at least 1 or 2 decent HW's that used to fight in the Pride ring. If Vera loses it won't be the worst thing in the world, except having to see Tim parade his belt around for a few more months.

This is just another example of how MMA is still in it's infancy. There just aren't enough good fighters to justify having all of these organizations fighting for talent... it simply thins out each respective companies divisions.

Everyone in this thread is right, the only "test" fight for Vera would be AA but... no one wants to see AA Vs Sylvia 4.... no one...

In fact, I'm not so sure I even want to see Tim Sylvia fight again... he sucks the life right out of the match.... fucking jab, jab, jab...

I almost think this is a lose-lose situation for Vera... he takes the shot, and loses... sucks for him.

He takes the shot and wins... still sucks for him because then AA is probably going to get a shot at him then (and probably beat him)... or one of the pride destroyers (like Crocop or Fedor) is gonna get signed and take Vera's Belt because he's just not ready for that level yet.

Brandon... if you prove me wrong... good on ya brotha... you'd be a good champ...

I like the idea of Vera fighting Slyvia because it's a match we've never seen. I really hope he can get the job done because like most of the MMA fans, I think Tim is a disgrace to the sport and the belt. The only problem with Vera fighting Tim is his inexperience but like others have said, there's no way I'd wanna see Sylvia vs. AA 4. Kinda off topic, but is there a reason Sylvia vs. Fedor has not happend yet other than money issues? I would love to see Fedor embarass Tim on national TV.

i was saying is his chin tough, because it hasnt been tested yet, if come to find out his chin is a tough chin then he will go far but if not then idk how far he really will go
