Honestly though, Matt just needs a gameplan against high calibre opponents. He needs to have his cardio at the best it can be. Then he needs to stick to what he does best... That not being his standup game. | Agreed. Matt should have never tried to trade punches with GSP. I'm a huge Hughes fan but when I was watching the fight i was thinking to myself why is he standing up with GSP. Take him down and do what you do best.GnP. Even if he didn't get the takedown the first time keep working it. It seems like Matt is wanting to show people he can strike but he picked the wrong man to do that with.

training with chute boxe wont give him KO power. but anyways, i think switching camps is dumb. i think to prepare for separate opponents, you should get the best camp money can buy, spend a few weeks in different camps. improve yourself at your home gym, and learn how to beat your opponent by moving around with other camps.
Diego and Forrest have went out and bought the best training camps they could get.
when getting ready for fights, Diego has been known to spend a week or 2 with Fedor. Forrest brought in Randy for his fight with Tito.
before Hughes both times, BJ was training with Lindland and Randy.
in order to beat the best in your division, train with someone who fights like him, but twice his size. if you want to beat GSP, spend a few weeks training outside, maybe with ATT and Kang, or Ace's guys in Ohio, instead of just Pat and the boys.

Matt went in the fight with the wrong plan, he got a take down stuffed oh well he should have tryed again, i agree he tryed proving he could box with the wrong person, he should just stick to his game plan, takedown after take down, dont stand your not good at it, and for the tradeing camps i think its stupid for him he has only lost 5 fights in his pro career and 2 came from great fighters, that dont make him any less of a fighter and he has only lost 2 times in the last few years that dont make him a bad fighter, makes him a great fighter, he has been doing good sticking with pats camp so why change, and i dont know if tito dislikes hughes, ive heard him talking about him being a good guy but that was a long time ago, shit can change

is more like coke 2, sometimes you just need to try a different formula | I can see your point, but obviously you have never been a member of a stable. YOU ARE A TEAM and work as a team, train as a team, and win/lose as a team. Tell Jeremy Horn what you said about them not "playing as a team".
Still, I do think it could dramatically help his skills to work with other world class camps. I just think it won't happen.

Why mess with what works? Hughes has lost what 2 matches in his last 25 or something like that. And those were two very talented fighters, its not he lost to nobodies. When it comes to GSP he lost because of his gameplan, not because of the camp he trains in.

Matt should stick to GnP, and the only camp that comes close to Miletich in that respect would be Team Quest. The only thing that Matt should focus on is bringing in better training partners, ones that match the physical style of his opponent.
I think Matt's dominance has diminished just because of the diversity he's added to his game. When he was a simple ground-n-pounder, his victories were a lot more decisive. The only thing he should really add to his game is clinch-fighting, a la Randy Couture, in order to neutralize fighters that have better stand-up, like BJ and GSP. In truth, with his short arms, low center of gravity, and thick build, Matt would be a natural clinch fighter.
