| If Riggs beat Sanchez...
If Riggs beats Sanchez next week, considering that a win for Sanchez would virtually guarantee him the next title shot (perhaps barring a Koscheck showdown), where does that put him in the WW standings? He's a good fighter, but inconsistant; if he does, however, defeat the undefeated top contender, how many more fights will the UFC give him to earn a title shot? Two? Three?
Opinions?

If he somehow managed to pull a win from inside of his ass, I think he should have to fight Kos next, then Karo, then Hughes in order to get a title shot.
Or Diego, Kos and Hughes, that would be deserving as well I was just throwing Karo in there to because it's Riggs and he should have to beat an extra fighter because as you stated, he is so damn inconsistant.

Riggs has the talent and potential to beat just about any one in the WW division. Excluding the top 3 of course. So if Riggs were to pull of the upset I think he should beat either Karo or Kos and then defeat either Hughes or Penn to earn a title shot.

I think KOS has to beat someone really good before he can get a shot w/ Diego.

i dont think deigo will be champ until gsp penn and hughes are all out of the way, and for riggs if he beats deigo and i hope he does, i think he should to fight 2 more top guys before a title shot, like penn and karo or whoever but this fight is more of a staying active for sanchez so i hope riggs wins

Yeah, he definitely screwed up when he allowed Fickett to tap him out but he was dominating that fight. Also, when he was on TUF, he took Diego to a SPLIT decision on his wrestling abilities alone! He had yet to even train MMA until he got to TUF! I don't see that Diego has gotten that much better where as KOS has definitely improved his skills. Besides the top three (GSP, BJ, and Hughes) I think Kos has the best shot to becomming champ in WW division

If Riggs wins he should have to fight Hughes again or BJ.

| if Riggs wins
call me crazy but I got a feeling Riggs can pull this off. I see this fight as one of those sleeper fights. Kind of like that top ranked college football team that has a late season game against a good but not great team and overlooks that team. I do think that if Riggs does beat Sanchez that does not automatically make him the #1 contender but not too far from it. I mean come on who honestly thinks Matt Serra will be any more competitive against GSP than Riggs would be if given that title shot. I think we just have to wait and see how things turn out. For instance what if its a very close/split decision this fight does have potential to be a real barn burner maybe a rematch can take place on the ppv with the gsp-serra fight. Bottomline if Diego wins he gets the shot no questions asked if Riggs wins he needs one more victory before getting the title shot that seems reasonable to me.
