Again, very WWE heel-ish. Reminds me of watching The Rock verbally destroy Coach or whoever was interviewing him. If Sonnen can pull off the upset, it'll be HUGE. I love Sonnen's interviews.

I think that Silva will dictate this fight in the sense that, unlike Marquardt, Silva will circle out of take downs and not waist energy/take down on the power shot that will eventually push you into the cage..

Honestly I think he came off like a D-bag. I thought his recent UFC Q&A thing was damn funny, but this just isn't. He basically tried to belittle this guy, purely for his own entertainment and to feed his ego. And then telling the guy that he was going to post up the entire interview if he didn't; lame.

I know people who act just like that. They have to try and start an argument with everyone, about the most random crap, and talk down to people in their fake "intelligent" manner. They do it to try and feel superior to everyone else, but really their just covering up their massive insecurity.

i agree they were long questions but does he really need to be a dick about it? After the whole Silva dance show i was hoping someone would whip his ass and I liked what chael had to say. but after reading his last few interviews im starting to hope he gives this guy a good beating.

speaking english and understanding english are 2 different things. Anderson Speaks very limited english, which is why on complex questions he asks his translator, and will then answer in Portuguese. Anderson has probably memorized certain answers to questions that he gets asked ALL the time, like; how is e going beat his opponent, how does he feel about his opponent, how is his training.

I'm not a huge Sonnen fan (he has grown on me in the last 18 months since I've become aware of his existence) but this time he's bang on the money.

There is so much wrong with how Mr Lane approached this interview it's beyond pathetic. I'm not sure if anyone ever bothered to explain this to him, but the role of the interviewer is to be as close to fucking invisible as humanly possible. He is simply a mechanism to get information from his subject. Realistically, no one here cares what Mr Lane thinks. That's why he's interviewing Chael Sonnen, because people care what Sonnen thinks.

But does Mr Lane let Sonnen be the star of the show? Does he fuck! I counted 914 words for roughly 16 questions - a number of which Mr Lane answered himself. He makes sweeping assertions about Sonnen and then asks questions based on those assertions. He uses unnecessarily flowery, evocative language. He puts words in Sonnen's mouth on multiple occasions. In short, he commits just about every Interviewing 101 rookie mistake in the book.

In terms of Lane doing his job, it's a Facepalm, Fenga Papit (Google image it) and EPIC FAIL all rolled into one. He is the Steve Mazzagatti of journalists. If he was an MMA judge, he'd be Cecil fucking Peoples. And on this forum, those who fail their core responsibility to fighters are treated with the contempt that they deserve.

Please don't mistake this for Sonnen nuthugging - it's honestly not. I genuinely believe that by attempting to shoe-horn Sonnen's own opinions - his very thoughts and feelings - into a construct that he'd clearly already decided upon, Mr Lane behaved in an extremely disrespectful manner. Essentially, he made it quite clear that what Sonnen actually has to say is nowhere near as interesting as his own take on the situation. His 'questions' are simply insulting, transparent excuses to wax (wank?) lyrical in nauseating monologue. It's literary masturbation using Sonnen as porn.

Fuck that shit. Save it for your fucking blog. I for one appreciate Sonnen holding up Lane's sticky love-sock for the whole MMA community to see. Maybe that will compel him to re-evaluate his interview approach into something approaching best practise.
