No, Werdum does not belong in the UFC, because he won't talk smack. He beat Fedor fairly and squarely and then proclaimed him the greatest fighter on the planet in his post fight interview.
That kind of thing won't fly in the UFC.
To make it in the UFC, you need to be entertaining as well as talented. If your fight style isn't entertaining, you need to talk smack, unless you have loads of fans coming in, or the natural charisma to sell PPV's without it.
It's kind of like the music industry before MTV...you could have some ugly-assed mofo who could play guitar well or sing well, and they'd sell millions...but suddenly, if they couldn't make a video, they're getting dropped by major labels. Pure talent doesn't cut it. The ability to mix entertainment with even marginal talent does, particularly when you have the hype machine turning b-level guys into the greatest thing since the discovery of penicillin.
All manner of men came to work for the News: everything from wild young Turks who wanted to rip the world in half and start all over again -- to tired, beer-bellied old hacks who wanted nothing more than to live out their days in peace before a bunch of lunatics ripped the world in half.
