| Freddie Roach talks about working with GSP Fighters Only Magazine - The World's Greatest MMA Magazine - News - Freddie Roach talks about wokring with GSP Quote:
Legendary boxing trainer Freddie Roach, who counts Manny Pacquiao among his stable of fighters, has talked about working with UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre as the French-Canadian sought to sharpen his hands.
“He’s like a sponge, he took in what I taught him and really practiced. He would come back the next day and know the move, I’d say “You went home and practiced that move all night long!” and he would just smile at me,” Roach told FightHub.
“He’s a great guy. Working with one of the best guys in the sport, its kind of an honour for me to help guys like that out.”
Roach also dropped a hint that he might be seen in the forthcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter, revealing that St. Pierre had asked him to drop in and give some pointers to the team he is coaching on the show.
“Great guy, really didn’t know much about boxing per se but ability-wise, he absorbed everything I taught him. He asked me about making an appearance on his show, he’s a coach I said “I won’t show them what I showed you!” Roach laughed.
St. Pierre’s opposite number on TUF 12 is Josh Koscheck, who has established himself as the leading welterweight contender. The two will clash after broadcasting of the season concludes, with the UFC welterweight title on the line.

Just another reason GSP is the greatest fighting in the world. Super athlete, trains with the best of the best in every aspect. And LEARNS, the biggest factor, he is still learning.

Hope Freddie Roach isn't like the Sports Illustrated curse. Both Arlovski and Penn had less than stellar results after working with/or recieved kudos from Roach.

LOL just did. I think feeling healthy is more important though. I usually have an impending feeling of disaster before a fight. The day of both GSP-Serra I and Fedor-Werdum I knew something was wrong and was nervous all day.

boxing is a lot more then skill alone. A guy like gsp could become really good with skill, but he lacks true speed, power, and his chin and heart can be questioned.

This is the same guy who fought with a torn Groin....If you have never pulled a groin , I can tell you it hurts. He fought through it and that = Heart + toughness
