Default Dana White loves his fighters?

Ok Im not here to bash Dana White cause I love the UFC and MMA period...but on the 60 Minutes program when he was asked how much the UFC was worth he smiled and said I dont know and that money doesn't mean anything to him and that he loves his fighters well why doesnt he pay the fighters like he loves them....I mean these guys are your product and some of them dont even get five grand a fight and you dont really hear any fighters bitch about what they get paid either....anyone else have comments about that....I like to hear them

I've brought up my opinion on the pay before but I have a new opinion. Maybe he's paying market value for his fighters. Think about it, let's say the lowest paid guy on a card makes 20,000 bucks, how is any other company going to compete? I think Dana is smart enough to avoid having a monopoly on the sport at least in the States.

If a fighter agrees to fight for 5k, why would Dana pay more? I think it's all relative to market value. If other companies were paying more, I bet UFC starts to pay more.

He said "let's say 20,000 bucks." He was just tossing a number out there not saying the lowest paid fighters make that because that is far from true.

Now for my opinion. Some of the pays are ludicrous, there should be a minimum to be paid to all fighters and I feel it should be somewhere in the $5-10,000 range. But for those that want all fighters to be paid the same are just wishful thinking. It is the same for all sports. Mark Madsen is never gonna make as much as Kevin Garnett. That is how the world works, the best get paid the mediocre don't.

We have been through this over and over.

UFC pays competitvely compared to Pride and other big names.
Chuck Liddell gets paid about 250k a fight, Fedor got 100k.

It is all based on being a Champ or Star in MMA.

Monson is not the marketable 13/13 is good for a guy with very little casual MMA fan base. Hughes, GSP, Liddell, BJ Penn, Oritz all make good money. Shoot when Chuck and Randy fought they each got over 200k.

It may be low compared to boxing, but UFC is paying right up there with the other MMA orgs.

lets face it....we all know that the ufc is raking in the $$$. sometimes it does look like some of the fighters are getting straight ripped off. but as a few stated, the stars make the money.....cause they bring alot of it in.

also, dana is a great business man, i think that almost all of us can agree on that. it has been interesting watching some of the other big organizations struggle lateley (pride, wfa).....dana obviously has big plans for 2007. maybe he saw a lot of this going on around him and has been being a little more conservative with his dough in order to pick up other big fighters. or he's just a stingy prick? hahaha....i donno.

Yeah Dana is a the typical businessman, he has no problems talking about how much money he has sunk into the UFC (40 million). But he does not want to talk about how much he is making now or how much in the green he is now.

I don't think Zuffa or UFC are traded publicly, I think they are an LLC so they don't have to disclose earnings.

I am sure he is in the green now, and it appears they are using their capital to reinvest into the company by gettind A. Silva, bidding on Cro Cop, Aleks...etc.

He's a smart bussinessman. He's managed to put the UFC in a position where they can begin to break more mainstream with the whole TUF concept as well as not overpaying fighters in order to keep the money in the company and re-invest in its growth and future. In turn if it continues to grow im sure the fighters pay will rise with the growth, if it doesnt their agents aint doing their jobs.

I still think the Fedor getting 100k was Prides way of keeping the UFC in the dark on what they pay their fighters. If Fedor was really getting only 100k and Chuck gets 2.5 x that much, Fedor would've jumped ship to another org. Rampage was paid $200,000 for his WFA fight plus PPV buys so I don't buy into the $100,000 for Fedor for the real deal, that is just what the public sees.

If Fedor is in fact only making $100k per fihgt his PPV percentage and gate percentage must be much higher than Chuck's or again like I said, he would've gone to WFA, IFL, K-1, or UFC if that was the case.
