I've been a fan of Davis' ever since I saw him a few years winning an NCAA title when the finals aired on cable. Not only is he a great fighter but if you get the chance to listen to him on an MMA podcast radio show he's got a great personality.

phil davis is a beast of a wrestler...this guy is going to have a good future, he's kind of a prototype of gsp at 205 just his physique and takedowns that is.

As to WHY people are "jumping on this guy's nuts", well you've definately not seen Davis' shot I presume.... See Phil Davis has been a hot prospect long before he signed with the UFC and is a decorated Division I champion training with Lloyd Irvin's camp, his grappling technique is at a scary level. Couple that with his sheer athleticism and physicality....yup, that's something to talk about. When people recognize talent and skill that stands out, it's common that said talent and skill is praised and heralded.
I don't know if you're also speaking about Nedkov here, since he too is undefeated, but if you are, you've obviously not viewed his fights, because he too is a beast, if not alot less hyped than Phil Davis. | Everyone with a good wrestling background and some wins against no one is considered a hot prospect. Who has he fought? No one. I dont pass judgement on a fighter until he actually fights someone that could pose a threat. He is a great wrestler, their are dozens of these guys around, can he transition well into MMA? So far hes done well but he hasnt been tested. I just think people jump the gun hoping their right and they can say " I loved this guy before he became champion". Just like people did with Anderson, or Machida.
It just seems like every new guy coming in is hearalded as the future of the division. But hes in the LHW division, no one is safe in their, NO ONE!
Good luck to him,and in no way am I trying to bash him as a fighter. I just think people need to relax on "The next big thing" title.

I don't think anyone is declaring him the future of the division quite yet, just an interesting fighter to watch out for.

But he is fighting at 205, the most stacked weight division in the UFC and the world. No one will ever be safe at 205, just ask Machida.
