If UFC did hold a wrestlemania type event i think it would be huge and it would profit a lot of money. If i was to set out the matches it would be as follows:
Light heavyweight Title:
Chuck Liddell vs Wanderlei Silva
Middle Weight Title:
Rich Franklin vs. Anderson Silva
Heavyweight Title:
Tim Silvia vs. Frank Mir
Welterweight Title:
GSP vs. Deigo Sanchez
Lightweight Title
Shawn Sherk vs BJ Penn
------- Non - Title Fights-----
Tito Ortiz vs Keith Jardine
Chris Leben vs Mike Swick
Micheal Bisping vs Rashad Evans
Brandon Vera vs Jeff Monson
Jens Pulver vs Melvin Guillard
Matt Hughes vs Kalib Starnes

I do think a 3 hour ppv is long enough.

I would absolutely love an event like this. There are a few road blocks however. All the fighters need to be healthy and some of them would have to be willing to either fight on relatively short notice or a endure a long layoff in between fights.
I think with the acquisition of WEC and it's use as a minor league we could potentially see a show of this magnitude happen. The only problem I would see is trying to get everything to align each year. You might be able to get something like this to happen every 2-3 years.
And Wrestlemania works because it is scripted not fake. Back when I was a wrestling fan before I found MMA, Mick Foley pretty much showed me how scripted violence is a lot more dangerous than it's given credit for.
I'm not going to try to rank these fights in order or main event/under card etc.. because they would all be good shows or at least have the potential of headlining. I'm just going put them in title/non-title categories.
HW - Vera/Sylvia 2 or Sylvia/Cro-Crop. I'm sure that if Sylvia loses to Vera he will demand a rematch right away.
LHW - Ortiz/Liddell or Liddell/Rampage. Either way this match is going to hyped obscenely... for good reason.
MW - Silva/Franklin or Lutter/no.1 contender(not Franklin or Silva) - No matter what happens with Silva/Lutter Franklin/Silva 2 would be made for this PPV. The only variable is whether or not it is a title fight or not.
WW - GSP/Hughes 3 or GSP/Diego. I know you're saying what about Hughes. That fight is going to happen in Montreal and there's no way that the UFC brings a card like this to Montreal.
LW - Sherk/someone. I could care less about this fight unless someone exciting takes the title from Sherk before.
Non-title fights. These obviously depend on title defenses in the near future.
Tito/Forrest 2 or Liddell/Rampage 2
Arlovski/Vera or Arlovski/Cro-Crop
BJ Penn/Karo
Hughes/Koschek
Throw in a solid LW match and you have 2 and half to almost 5 hours of entertainment.

All PPV cards should be like Wrestle Mania. Can we please stop making these Pro Wreslting, MMA, comparisons, it takes away from the integrity of the sport.

wresltemania is the biggest ppv of the year but its not always the best, and i dont think ufc should have anything like that because as someone stated what is left for the next 6 months , nothing and leaves us bitching about shit ppv, i mean a card like that would be awsome but you have to think of the long run after all those fights the next few months would be pretty boring

Well... ok...
I think the money generated by a PPV of this magnitude would have all the champs and fighters willing to fight at this PPV, even if it meant having another title fight in a month or so.
Another idea would to be having like maybe 3 or 4 of the champions fight at this MEGA PPV and still have all the big names. I mean, it might not work, but come on.... who WOULDN'T be willing to put down $50 for a PPV like this. I'm sure this would gaurentee over 1 million buys (50 million in profits). Hell, the could probably pay each fighter 1 million and still have like 30 mil in revenue.

Pride does this once a year already at shockwave , they have all the belt holders fight in one night, unfortuneatly some are non title fights. Plus the ppv before and after doesnt have to suffer, some of prides top fighters fight 6 to 8 times a year. crocop fought 8 times in 2004 alone. Im not sure if theres a reason in the ufc why the belt holders only seem to fight about 3 times a year. Or if thats just dana spreading out his talent to one title fight a ppv usually.
