Shogun is already the champ at 205 and he has Rashad Evans to worry about first. Making the difficult cut to 185 when he's already the light-heavyweight champion and has plenty of quality opponents to face makes no sense whatsoever. Anderson moving up to 205 makes much more sense as he's cleaned out his division save for Sonnen and Vitor Belfort.
Moving up to 185 however does make sense for GSP, who really only has Jake Shields left at welterweight if/when he gets past Koscheck.

Surely a catchweigh fight could be possible for Silva/Shogun. I mean we know that Silva can make LHW, and as we don't know whether or Shogun could make it all the way down to 185, catchweight seems logical. The only problem with this though is that people will argue (and possibly rightly so) that catchweight could give Silva an unfair advantage. The reason for this could be that Shogun would be giving up weight to cut to get down to the catchweight, whereas Silva (assuming he has to cut to get to middleweight) would probably be fighting at around his natural weight. It's a difficult one really.
As for Shogun 'looking in shape', I think it's a terrible argument to say that because he isn't shredded that he isnt in shape. His cardio is good and he looks like he is at a healthy weight for his build. And to be fair, he's stayed consistently at that build for much of his career, and it seems to be working, so why fix what isn't broken?

you think Anderson Silva isn't as good as all the talk about him?
that he has never really faced any opponents that posed a significant threat to him?
that at times he was fed opponents who could only lay helpless staring up at him?
that he's actually far from the best in the world, and really hasn't been tested agains't someone like another dominant champion or striker?
...pfft, that's bullshit...

um...maybe it came across that way but again im just sick of all the silva talk and who he should fight, im sick of all the speculation around him moving to lhw moving to hw then there being 100's of posts about it. when i said i hope he loses, i thought from that happening then the talk would die down a bit, like the case with machida, when he got ko'd. remember before that everyone thought he was invincible. i think a loss for silva would be good, his last few fights barring the forrest win have been a fucken joke, they were on par with the kalib starnes vs nate quarry fight.
there are two things i have to admit... that post by me was stupid and dayne fs wears womens underwear.

I understand your point, but I think really this sort of stuff has to be talked about, because it isn't just dreamy speculation, and Silva/GSP could really happen.
Obviously there would be some major negotiations first as to which weightclass to fight at, but it really could happen. I mean I think BECAUSE so many people are talking about that fight, it is more likely to happen.
"I believe my job is to put on fights that people want to see. I keep hearing that and enough people want to see it. I guess I’m gonna have to do it." (Dana White - in reference to Silva/GSP)
Whether or not you think Silva is overrated or not, that fight would be absolutely HUGE, and would really settle a lot of the arguments that people are making about the best pound-for-pound in the world etc. etc.
