| Demian: “I’m cheering for Sonnen”
[QUOTE]One week before UFC 117, which happens on August 7 in Oakland, in California, all the lights are turned to the card which has five Brazilians. Between one training session and another, Demian Maia talked to TATAME and analyzed the confrontation between the champion Anderson Silva, who beat him on UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi, and Chael Sonnen, who has been submitted by Demian with a triangle. Demian guaranteed that Sonnen has chances and revealed he cheers for the American. “He has chances of winning, the fight will be easier for Anderson, but he can beat him. If I had to chose, I’d cheer for Sonnen, making an exception because I always want the Brazilians to win, but this time I have to be at Sonnen’s side, because I don’t admire the other one”, explained the black belt.
On the same night, Junior Cigano will get into action against Roy Nelson. Demian has been training along with Cigano and guarantees the Brazilian’s ground game could make it hard for anyone on grappling competitions. “Cigano will be UFC’s next champion. On this fight he can knock him out or submit him, wherever the fight takes place he has chances of winning. Cigano would be a hard one if he competed Jiu-Jitsu or Submission. I brought him to Xande (Ribeiro) to train him with the kimono and the guys were surprised with his ground game. He’s very talented. He priories his boxing, but he trains a lot of Jiu-Jitsu too. And if you train Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil, you are already good”, concluded.[QUOTE] Demian: “I’m cheering for Sonnen” :: TATAME

The most interesting part of this article is when Maia talks about Junior Dos Santos.
If Maia is gives JDS that much credit for his BJJ, then I'm sold.
Good to know that JDS's ground-game isn't mediocre.
CANNOT WAIT FOR HIS FIGHT!
Roy is one tough SOB too.

Anderson only embarrassed his self if you ask me . No same in losing a fight as long as you fought and Demian did his best to fight were he wanted the fight .
On Junior I think he should drop to 205 were he was fighting before he came to the UFC.
No matter were he is at black house is there. Maybe the UFC is making him fight at HW

lol not a suprising article but good to know chael has fans that aren't drunk hillbillies. also good to know jds isn't just going to get laid on his back listening to roy count to 15 while his arms are trapped under fat. Not trying to be disrespectful to roy he knows he's fat and uses it to his advantage just want it to be another exciting fight like the struve fight not another kimbo fight

Stop selling him short in that regard. If he was just some fatass laying on top of guys, dont you think any random fatass around the world would be dominating the HW scene?
Im rooting for JDS in this fight, but for Gods sake go youtube the Mir/Nelson grappling match or something and educate yourself, son.

No matter were he is at black house is there. Maybe the UFC is making him fight at HW | Actually, I thoroughly enjoyed the Silva/Mia fight for the first 3 rounds. I found it both funny and spectacular in terms of how starstruck Mia appeared and how Amazingly precise Anderson's striking was (like the flying knee that connected to Mia's head). The last 2 rounds left much to be desired, but the crazy thing about the entire fight was that Anderson proved that he could touch Mia whenever and however he wanted to with relative ease.

No matter were he is at black house is there. Maybe the UFC is making him fight at HW | When did he fight at 205? His opponents are all listed as being in the HW division.
Dos Santos' size is deceptive, because he's not a walking man-mountain like Carwin or Lesnar. But he's got the striking to put away anyone in that division, and if his takedown defense is up to snuff, he can be champ.
On topic...are we really surprised Maia is rooting for Sonnen? Silva made a mockery of their fight, and Maia couldn't beat him on a good day. He also holds a win over Sonnen, and knows he can beat him again.
