I get it.
I like this topic.
and a lot of rematches have been amazing & really entertaining.
and I believe this topic was started because of the GSP fights that will be happening within the next year, but that's where I kind of have a problem with it.
They're rematches, but he's literally cleaned out his division.
If he was having trouble in his weight class & came upon a few rematches while trying to stay on top I could understand that. But when you've literally raped your whole weight class & they're just bringing back the same guys again that's when I think it gets redundant.

Isn't the list of 'different result' enough to show you that things can go differently the second time around, even when someone got dominated the first time? You really think it was a better idea to give Dan Hardy his first shot then have Fitch get a second shot?
Thanks to those who noticed mistakes with my list. This list is not exhaustive so feel free to add to it, as opposed to argue about Fedor. How did that even come up? (RHETORICAL QUESTION!)

If you're the champ, and the top five in your division remain the top five over a given length of time, rematches are inevitable.
If the two guys in question had an epic battle, or there was some sort of controversy, rematches are inevitable.
But I don't like immediate "gimme" rematches just because one guy was champ. IMO, the rematch really should meet some sort of the aforementioned criteria.
You lose the championship, you go pound on the rest of the division, then if warranted/earned, you get another shot.

Was the Penn/Uno rematch entertaining? I don't remember it, just know it was a draw. I was hesitant to include. If you confirm it's worth being on the list I'll put it.
Added Nog vs Janitor. Thanks.

Added Nog vs Janitor. Thanks. | the one that was a draw was the rematch. the first one penn knocked him out with a flying knee in like 10 seconds.

The second time was against Georges at UFC 58,--in a fight where Georges also gassed, although that is commonly overlooked. It is the only shred of reality to the myth of Penn not having any conditioning.

rh | I always thought more of that came from the Hughes rematch where it is openly debated whether or not he actually had a separated rib.

Penn himself has said before his conditioning has been an issue in the past more so than it should of been. He said he had bad conditioning (gassing early) so I'm inclined to listen to him.
