-Question- not sure if this is in the right section of the forum, but my question is... would u rather take up muay thai or kickboxing? im planning on taking kickboxing at first, and then muay thai. u guyz think thats a good idea? or should i just stick to one style of fighting. and when i say kickboxing, i dont mean that cardio-kickboxing garbage :angry4: i do have some skills, but nothing too big. As a kid (5 to 9 years old) i took up Judo/Jiu Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do. |
Does kickboxing allow elbows and knees? If not, I'd say Muay Thai. If so, I don't know enough about the differences to make an opinion. |
Muay Thai I like take downs and submissions but if I had to choose I'ed pic muay thai. |
Depends if you want to take up mma or not. If you do then KBoxing is very limited in it's use in mma. MT is hella useful so start that (also helps in real fights!) |

so it's either Muay Thai or Kickboxing... my friend says we should take Kickboxing since Cro Cop does as well...but i want Muay Thai...i've seen Ernesto Hoost fight...he's a monster. |
i'd say muay thai.elbows are awesome. |
just talked to my friend, i guess were taking up kickboxing and then muay thai. he's gonna compete...but i dont think i will. i got work and studies...competing would be too time consuming... but i probably would compete a few matches :D |
Ive been doing kickboxing for a few months now. Its easier for new people. |

I would imagine being able to fight in the clinch would be more useful for self defense. In muay thai you learn how to kick and punch but in Kickboxing you don't learn how to knee or elbow. So Muay Thai is a much more well rounded and practical art to use when needed. |
