It's genetic. The same part of the brain is activated when you almost win at some gambling game as when you win. It's an evolutionary trait that encourages us to keep trying and learn new skills when we are close to getting it.

Agreed, I fucked up my life pretty bad in Louisiana, gambling thousands away. Did have one really good day when I went into the casino with 100 and left with 2000. That was a two hooker night....
