| Nate Marquadt on Palhares, Sonnen, And Technique
SOURCE: http://www.mmareel.com/2010/09/nate-...onnen-and.html Quote:
"I've heard that, that (Rousimar Palhares) holds on to stuff too long, but I don't really care about that. When I go to fight, I fully expect guys to do whatever they can to win, and if that means them trying to cheat or whatever, you have to be ready for that. You have to protect yourself at all times and that means even from things that are illegal. I'm going to come prepared and I'm going to do my best to stay out of any kind of submission hold so that issue won't even come up."
This fight will be an interesting one, Marquardt is looking to come back from a lopsided Unanimous Decision loss to Chael Sonnen at UFC 109, which still seems to be bothering the fighter.
"I guess I'm still not over the (loss to Chael Sonnen) heartbreak or whatever. It still bothers me, but I'm definitely looking forward to my next fight and I feel I've learned my lessons from that fight. I expect to go into this fight and execute my game plan, and I think that's one of the biggest mistakes that I made against Chael."
"If you fight a wrestler the wrong way, it's very easy to get taken down, and I think that's what happened. My takedown defense is much better than I showed, and I will be able to prove that in my next fight here."
Marquardt sounds like he wants nothing to do with Palhares on the ground, and i wouldn't blame him as the Brazilian has a 11-2 record with 9 wins by way of submission. Be sure to watch Ultimate Fight Night 22 on Wednesday September 15th.

Palhares looks like a jacked up comic book villian who's super power is submitting the fuck out of people. He's a genetically created super grappler.

I am very much looking forward to this matchup. I really like Marquardt (altho he just recently fell to my #2 fave MW), but I do believe he'll have his hands full with Palhares. Great fight.

Palhares looks like a mean SOB.
After reading what he has come from, I have utmost respect for him, and even though I like Nate, I hope Palhares takes his neck home with him.

probably a fist cause its not hitting the ground until one of them is unconcious. I don't see any way for Palhares to getting it to the ground. If you've watched Nate fight more than just against chael he has extremely good wrestling and a decenct ground game, maybe not very offensive off his back but how many submission wins does the Prodigy have off his back? The chance he's going to get it the ground is if he drops Nate. Good luck with that one Palhares

Good luck with that one Palhares | have you not seen toquinho's first ufc fight with jeremy horn? he mistreated him so bad by throwing him around that he made horn his own personal rag doll.
the man got super strength like wrestlers. for you to say that the only way to get nate to the ground is if he drops him is pretty sad. stupid statement.
