I think this fight can really go either way. Unfortunately, I do believe Vera would be released if he loses. Great matchup.

I think Thiago Silva is a great fighter but I feel he has always been overrated and over-hyped to be honest. He hasn't really done that much to prove to me he is this elite, sick fighter everyone talks about..When he faces the elite in the division he loses and usually gets rocked or does lack-luster in other of his fights but his heavy hands get him out of trouble. He is a great fighter but overrated in my opinion.
Now I think Vera is one of the most talented guy's at Light heavyweight in the UFC but damn he just can't get it done. He has shitty game-plans and never fights to his true potential I believe. I've been saying this about Vera for a long time and he isn't clueing in and realizing that honestly.
I'm saying Thiago here by UD or TKO.

I'd really like to see Silva crush Vera. Brandon's been in denial since before the Jones fight and has only gotten worse. It sickens me that his mouth doesn't match his performances. He seriously needs another wake up call.

This fight is a horrible match-up for Vera. Yes he may have better movement but he is dealing with a guy that only need to connect once and Vera is not exactly a defensive genius when it comes to striking. Vera will land a few leg kicks, eventually get taken down, mounted and KTFO.

agreed this is an awesome matchup, two guys i like who can handle things standing and on the ground but i feel vera needs this win much more than thiago, and im afraid vera will come out timid and thiago will be his usually viscous self, he needs to make a statement i would be very impressed if he finished thiago in fact that would put vera in the top 5 at 205, i'll take either fighter by early round two KO i hope that skull is healed nicely mr vera

I see Thiago just taking him down and pounding him to night night land.

Over rated fighter vs Over rated fighter. If I'd pick anyone to win it would be vera. But if silva wins then he would be considered one of the best again ? Everytime he faces a true opponent he loses. Machida and rashard beat him decisively. And he hasnt beat ANYONE quality. Brandon vera has. So iam taking vera. And its not like vera has lost 2 in a row to bums. So iam taking vera.

The hype machine happens when a guy is undefeated and is climbing the ladder and fighting up-and-comers, then gatekeepers and finally contenders.
Remember, Thiago Silva vs. Lyoto Machida was a battle of undefeated fighters and that wasn't too long ago. Machida knocked him out and slowed the hype machine down.
Thiago Silva, now having proven that he is better than Jardine, Houston Alexander, Drwal etc. has lost to Machida and Rashad. Thiago has proven that he is at contender level, but not necessarily ready for a title shot yet until he can beat one of the top 3 or 4 guys in the division.
