It was started up back in the early 90's as basically shoot style wrestling. So like some of the entertainment/gimmick aspect of wrestling but with no pre determined outcomes. Then later on they adopted more MMA aspects to it. Ken, Bas, Frank ... they all used to fight for Pancrase back in the day.
