Vitor Belfort Knows Everything About Anderson Silva, Including How to Knock Him Out

Apparently, Vitor Belfort has changed his nickname from “The Phenom” to “The Back of My Hand” because that’s how well he claims to know UFC middleweight king of Anderson Silva.
“I know his whole game,” Belfort recent told Rede TV. “I know his jiu jitsu game. I know his stand-up game. I know he likes spinning kicks and loves to use elbows, but if I put my hands on a man, he will fall down.”
After putting down former middleweight champ Rich Franklin in his Octagon return at UFC 103, Belfort and “The Spider” were set to tango for the title at UFC 112 but a shoulder injury forced the challenger to withdraw. Silva has successfully defended his belt twice since their meeting fell through, but Belfort knows the outcomes would have been different had he been the one inside the cage.
“If I hit him like Demian [Maia] and [Chael] Sonnen did, it’s going to be different because I have much more firepower,” he matter-of-factly stated. “Still, a fight is a fight, and we know we’re two well-conditioned champions. The most important thing is to be well-trained and focused on each second of that fight.
“I know Anderson knows that if my hands hit him, he will not be able to stand on his feet. No matter who’s on the other side of the cage, whether it’s Anderson or someone else, I’m going forward. If you look at my last fights, you’re going to see how focused I am. I know what I want. I have no doubt about what I want or what I’m able to do, so I’m very motivated.”
Now that Sonnen has been granted an immediate rematch, Octagon brass decided to pit Belfort against Japanese stud Yushin Okami to determine who gets next dibs. If the planet’s baddest 185-pounder were to lose his strap in the mulligan, Belfort would be just fine with facing Sonnen as well.
“I really want this belt. I want to face whoever has the belt,” Belfort said. “Today, it’s Anderson, so I really want to face him. He can’t fight this year, and I won’t wait for him until next year.”
Belfort and Okami will collide at UFC 122 inside the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany on November 13th.

Well this knowledge may come in handy quicker than Belfort thought...with Sonnen and the PED's and all.

Honestly Belfort needs to focus on trying to KO Okami because he is about to fight a guy that style wise is a horrible match-up for him. Okami has a granite chin, good enough hands to survive standing with Belfort, top level wrestling and top control with a gas tank that never empties. Also add into the fact he has broke guys mentally just because of how strong he is and I think Belfort is in a world of trouble in November.

Hopefully Silva brings his A game, and trains his standup more (even though i feel like Belfort will try to take him down as soon as he gets in close) because he looked too laid back in the standup against chael.

Not sold on Belfort. He might get past Okami, but I just don't see him winning a fight with Anderson who is much more skilled than he is. I still want to see them fight, don't get me wrong, but I've seen most of Vitor's fights and nothing he's done up till now tells me he's doing anything more than hyping a fight he doesn't even have yet.

That's a great read. Who knows, if Sonnen's drug test failure is serious, he could lose his shot at the title, and maybe Belfort will be awarded the shot as his replacement. Obviously this is PURE speculation, but a great 'what if' nonetheless.
I believe it was an episode of UFC Insider when they showed Belfort octagon-side for Sonnen/Silva and he was shown to predict when Silva was about to throw the spinning back kick, so I do believe that Belfort has Silva's game well worked out. It would be very interesting to see how this translates in the fight situation though.

Perfect timing. I feel bad for Okami getting shafted so many times, but I would rather see silva vs belfort. I think he does possibly have silvas #. Two of the most devestating strikers of all time! Sonnen's failed test may just be one step closer to making the fight happen.

Since Chael failed his drug test I think you make Anderson Silva fight Vitor and make Okami vs Nate happen

Didn't Belfort used to train with Black House when that team first started up and before Vitor went to Xtreme Couture?

"...we know we’re two well-conditioned champions."
Correction Vitor. You are championship material and a FORMER champion. However, there will only be one champion in the octagon when and if you fight Anderson for the UFC MW belt.
