Honestly I'm surprised no one has mentioned Diego as fighter of the year cantidate. He's still undefeated and this year he's fought John Alessio, Karo Parisyan and Joe Riggs. He's gotten better with every fight, has greatly improved his striking, and in my mind should be next in line for a title shot.
That said, Diego gets my vote. Along with Cro Cop, GSP and strangely, Matt Hughes. Granted Hughes lost to GSP but he's had some exciting fights and has been a class act all the way.
Fight of the year was Karo/ Diego easily. Especially right after the first Judo throw which sent both fighters flipping through the air. I came out of my seat for that one. Smith/ Sell was good too.

but if he beats Noguiera again, Barnett. he fought 6 times this year, and is 5-1, and while Cro Cop won the OWGP, if he beats Noguiera again, especially if its not a decision, he will be fighter of the year
GSP has only fought like twice this year, although one for the belt.
Diego only fought 2 top 10 fighters this year, Riggs and Karo
Fights: Karo vs Sanchez. Penn/Hughes. NOg/Barnett.
