5. Shogun because he is shogun
6. F Edgar because if he went down to 145 he's be just as tough as at 155
7. Nick Diaz because he fights all over the place and wins and is a champ
8. Gilbert Melendez because he is champ and beat Aoki
9. Fedor because of his record only. Should he win against AO or Barnett he moves back in top 5
10. Eddie Alvarez. You could also put Rashad, Machida, Aoki, JDS, Bader, Maynard, Fitch, Koz or Jones in the next teir of fighters who could be #10. | dont mean to be mr-word-ish-right but both a.silva and shields have lost. i know you probably meant that they havent lost since becoming champ or shields hasnt lost in damn near 5 years (5 years next month to be exact if he doesnt lose to kampmann) and a.silva hasnt lost in 4 and a half years

fuck it, i'll throw in my 2 cents too if anyone cares
(and btw, i'm basing all this off of 3 things: wins against other top competition in their weight classes, finishes, did they give up weight/size against their opponents frequently)
1)Anderson Silva
2)Fedor
3)Aldo
4)GSP
5)Edgar
6)Shogun
7)Mousasi
8)Lyoto
9)Penn
10)Nick Diaz
and like rivethead said earlier, p4p lists are fickle so this shit changes contstantly (except fedor)

Some good lists here, but I think some are premature at the moment. Top 10 is so hard because the bottom five will move around ALOT from fight to fight. And one lose will knock most of the bottom 6-7 out. Heres my shot, very hard to choose who goes where.
1-GSP
2-Anderson
3-Edgar
4-Rua
5-Fedor
6-Shields
7-BJ
8-Machida
9-Aldo
10-JDS
But like I said, 1 lose and most of these guys would either drop off or hit the bottom quick. And at the same time, 1 win over a top 10 in their division and they can shoot up.

10) Velasquez | Fitch and Maynard do not belong on any p4p list. Yes, they're good fighters. No, they're not p4p greats.

rh | I really like that you did that, that is what pound for pound should be, but if it based on who fighters can get a win over and not necessarily even beat them up or hurt them then you have to have them on there. Nick has always been one of my favorites, his standup is very good and exciting, he makes people look foolish, his ground game is sick but would he be able to stop the takedown of say a fitch, maynard, shields(they'd never fight) Nick is a way better fighter in my book than them but he would most likely lose a boring ud after getting taken down and them not doing much, and he would do the most damage. that is how mma is and it sickens me. Aoki is good but he doesnt belong on the top p4p list, id like to see what he could do against the elite lw's first.
I know shogun beat machida arguably twice, and shogun is the only lhw that can outstrike machida but machida's takedown defense is way better than shoguns and has some good takedowns of his own, He is also a master of keeping distance and comes in when he wants to. Is shogun better on the ground, yes. but is he good enough to submit wrestlers who have good sub defense and play it safer, i dont think so. I wish that guys like rashad would strike with him, but shogun isnt nearly as hard to get down as machida and a ud for rashad wouldnt surprise me. I dont have anything against wrestler it is just when they fight the way they do, i hate fighters that plan to win the decision and strictly to get points in the judges eyes.
fedor
a. silva
gsp
aldo
penn
machida
shields
shogun
jds/cain
diaz
I know that edgar beat penn twice but styles make fights, he will probably lose to maynard again in boring fashion, but edgar wont fair as well as penn against the top lw's out there. He is a fighter that more speed than bj, and that is what really gets bj, he doesnt stay on the ground long enough or striking long enough with bj to get hurt, the other top lw's will have a much harder time bj than edgar, almost like machida/shogun, only shogun is also very good.

I based this on well roundedness and dominance
1. gsp
2. A. Silva- Chael fucked you into second, sorry anderson
3. edgar- if u box u know he has sick boxing and wrestling
4. fedor- sorry werdum you're going to have to do it again to make it to my list
5. fuck off brock you're not on here either Shields, dude beat hendo and is a ww
6. Shogun- mt and bjj, may have a problem with wrestlers but they have to stay awake long enough or not be sloppy.... if only rashad had a jaw
7. bj penn- sick boxing and tdd flexibility and jits. just would be nice if he actually got in shape and in focus for his last 2 fights
8. Jon Jones- may get some flack for this i know theres some haters here but you'll see talk shit now and he'll be on your list in 2 years and you'll be eating your words
9. Cain Velasquez, doesn't have to rely on his size, trains hard good wrestling and can strike too. I would love to see him fight carwin... but than again if brock might have enough time to train to not look like as toney put it brock bouche in the cage and that will make it a good fight
10. Nick diaz, gets jits and boxing, champ. subject to some lnp but still a great fighter

Good to see Diaz get some love though, that guy is awesome. Still think Edgar is too high though.
