Jon Jones Not Particularly Excited Over Bout With Ryan Bader - FightLine.com
For Jones' sake I hope he doesn't view this as the same as Hamil and Janitor. Bader is a much better MMA style wrestler and brings power in his fist that can end fights. I mean if you really look at this on paper Bader has an advantage in a lot of departments. Better wrestling background and he brings KO power into this fight which is something Jones lacks. He also has fought and beaten much higher quality fighters then Jones.

I think Jones will pull it off, but Bader is going to be hell on wheels for him all 3 rounds.

The first 9 guys Bader fought has a combined record of 34-39 with only one guy with an above .500 record. Lil Nog is the best guy either of them have fought, but other than that I wouldn't use Bader's level of competition as an advantage he has over Jones. Definitely wouldn't call it much higher quality other than Nog

I do not agree with that at all. I would say that jones has had the stiffer competition, aside from lil nog who was probably the most significant competition out of all of them.

I have Bader winning a UD here.

Jones just has not been tested IMO yet. He has a ton of hype but so did Vera.

How do you figure? Jones has 2 KOs and 5 TKOs (not counting the inevitable TKO that was coming before the DQ as he was turning Matt Hamil's face into chicken paillard). Bader has 2 KOs and 3 TKOs. Seems like JJ has a bit of an advantage looking at the facts.

A debatable point. I'd say other than Lil' Nog, it's been rather even, with Jones having a slight advantage.

I can't believe how critical some people are over Jones. He's done more than enough to prove himself in his past five fights and will continue to with this fight.

In my eyes Bader is the real fighter who hasn't proved himself as a top dog. He just barely came out the winner in his fight with Nog and has done anything overly impressive besides that (knocking out Jardine does not impress me).

When looking at these two fighters, you can't just look at each ones competition (where Jones has had much stiffer in my opinion) but how they are competing against them. Jones has been tearing through these people with ease, while Bader can barely get a finish.

I see Bader getting exposed for the typical one dimensional wrestler he is in this fight when his stand up won't amount to anything when he can't get Jones to the mat. Jones TKO 2nd.

no way bader wins this, he would have a very hard time taking jones down, he is a great wrestler but wont be able to deal with jone's speed or length. Bader is one of the better wrestlers in the game but jones has top3 or higher takedowns in the game, he is fast, explosive and uses great technique. he can get his arms locked around you from further out than fighters are used to with his 84 inch reach. Jones via destruction. At best bader gets a takedown and takes a round, that is a stretch. Jone's striking is highly overrated but he is going up against bader, and it will take a better striker to exploit jones. I doubt it will stay standing to long anyways.

I think its going to be a really good fight, but Jones hasnt been in any trouble yet,so who knows how he will react to it. Which is the reason I cant say hes the future, he might be the next Vera.

Jones Walks around and trains at 225+. He wouldn't be jumping 30lbs at all. As a matter of fact he would probably be one the baddest HW we have ever seen in MMA with his athleticism and pure frame weight.

He is 23 if I'm not mistaken and is at a point in his maturity that with VERY little change in diet and strength training can be a bad ass 235-245 lb HW. He mentioned this himself at one point a while back that he may move up at some point in his career. But I merely was pointing out my opinion that for me I see it as inevitable in a couple of years.

Jones does not have have one shot kill power, yes he can stop guys and has stopped guys but that is with a zillion punches. Bader has shown in the past that he can stop a guy with one punch. Until Jones stops a guy with one punch he does not have KO power.

Bader has beaten Lil'Nog, Jardine, Schafer and Marerro in his last four fights.

Jones has beaten The Janitor, Vera, Hamil (techinally loss, but really a win in my eyes), and Bonnar.

I do not see how that is an even mark. Lil'Nog is a top 10-5 LHW while Jones has never even fought a Top 10 maybe even Top 15 LHW. Sorry Bader has beaten better guys.

Jones has not fought a guy as tough as Nogueira, which is something that is hard to overlook. Stylistically, I like Jones' style a lot more and think he has more tools as a grappler. Bader has gotten tired in fights, but he has been in some grueling fights, while Jones has not.

If Jones runs through Bader like he has everybody else, I would be pretty surprised, but I definitely think this should be a #1 contender fight.
