MMA fan's attitudes toward Machida fuckin baffles me. EVERYONE was riding his stick after he beat Ortiz. The guy looked untouchable. He wins the belt, has a controversial fight, followed up by a knockout loss to Shogun (one of the very best LHW of all time) and suddenly, he's a joke. He totally dominated everybody put in front of him until that point, but that somehow doesn't count. His style is a gimmick?! Yes, defensive skills that prevent professional fighters from landing punches on you are a gimmick.
Machida is an elite fighter in a stacked weight class. Just because Shogun has proven he can solve the riddle, doesn't mean everyone (or anyone) else can.
