from a pure striking stand point yes, dont measure the hand length to the finger, measure the fist but hand size does matter for takedowns, look how far out jones can be while wrapping his hands around his opponents back and throwing them.
why would measuring across the whole back or chest skew the results if they did that to everyone, unless somebody has an odd back or chest which it is longer on one side. fighters dont stand square and when you throw your punch and sit into it and rotate your torse you get that extra length on your punches.
