| Vera's not going anywhere
Guys,
I think a lot of people are concerned about the future of Brandon Vera sticking around with the UFC. I truly believe he's not going anywhere. Dana is in a real sticky situation. He knows, that after Sylvia's last two performances that were, less than underwhelming, he doesn't draw money. Prior to the MMA explosion that may not have been an issue but in this day and age, Dana needs fighters that draw money. Bottom line, Dana knows he can't afford Sylvia as a champion. Did anyone take a look at Dana's face the last two Sylvia fights when he placed the belt around the waist of Big Tim? He looked like a kid who just saw his puppy get trampled by NAZI's. It was pretty hilarious. He clearly doesn't want Sylvia as champion. He gets booed all the time. I'm not trying to bash the "Decision-iac", ah fuck it, yea I am lol. But seriously, Dana is gonna give Vera his money, and his title shot. And then the HW division will be looking pretty good.
Peace out.

Yea i defintly agree...not only does dana know he needs vera in the hw division, Vera knows how much dana needs him. From a negotiating standpoint vera is a very young, talented fighter with tons of potential. So why not look around get some other offers, and make dana put up a better offer? Personally i think vera deserves props for excellent negotiating and that we can all sleep better know that he'l stay.

I think he had one fight left on it.
I'm also inclined to agree that Dana would like a more electrifying HW champ. Tim is boring. Vera would be a much bigger draw IMO.

i agree with all of it, elite cant pay vera 120,000 a fight unlike ufc can if vera becomes champion and vera knows that he is just trying to neg a new contract

Agreed. Vera's a smart businessman already; Dana'll give him the shot, and he'll stick around for it.

yea I just wanted to reiterate something. Tim's a good fighther, but he is to defensive for his own good. When i watch him theres just something about him that fans hate. Whether its his boring style, or the fact that he's just arrogant IDK, but Dana recognizes the fans dislike of him.

Tim Sylvia is a good fighter, but lately he has been trying not to lose instead of trying to win, which results in boring fights. If/when Vera gets his shot Vera has stated he will push the pace and make Timmay! fight. I am excited to see this fight, whatever the outcome.

I don't think he's leaving. However, if he loses this chance he is in deep doo-doo. With CroCop coming, all I see is an Arlovski/CroCop feud on the horizon with UFC still trying to develop their HW division and this could cause some of the mainstays to be stepped over (Mir and the TUF guys)Vera could be a one and done guy. That's IF he loses, something I don't see happening.
