your right, it would do nothing for MMA or Lashleys career, however lashleys career took a pretty big hit in his last fight. it would also do nothing for a more established mma promotion, but strikeforce is stuck as being a regional promotion with some national exposure, even though they do have some pretty big names fighting for them.
if they would stack the card with exciting fights, they could gain viewers and fans. from a business standpoint, it might be what they need. from a pure mma standpoint, its a pointless match. but hey, so was toney vs couture, yet we all still watched and it drew in some boxing fans. hell, dana even admitted it was a freakshow fight. in japan they use to have these freak show fights all the time. and they always did pretty well.
strikeforce seems to be striking out with everything else they try, and they need something to generate new fans and viewers.
