i was just thinking about Cro Cop in UFC being all but officially announced, and not long after this is announced, Brandon Vera might be going to fight for Showtime's promotion. i got to thinking about how Vera has said that he doesn't think he's on the level of Fedor and wouldn't want to fight him until '08 or so. he's also said that when he becomes champion, he wants to have a good run with the belt, not dropping it after one or two fights.

now here's my theory:
i think that now that vera is the #1 contender in UFC he knows that if he's champ he's going to have to fight Cro Cop within one or two fights and doesn't think he's on Cro Cop's level yet so he doesn't want to have a short run with the belt and is considering the showtime promotion as a way of keeping himself untarnished until he is ready to fight the likes of Cro Cop or Fedor. not saying he's a coward, just looking out for his future in the sport as there are countless people that have made it to a title fight, only to fall off the face of the earth after losing.

what do you guys think?

I really think he is using the showtime deal as a bargaining chip but you never know, money talks. I do think he is smart enough to know he isnt on CC's level but I think he will go where they most $ is.

elite can talk the talk but can they walk the walk, the thing is ufc can afford to pay him themoney he wants, but can elite what if they ratings are good and there ppvs dont sell , brandon has to be thinking about that too, i mean if he signs a 3 fight deal or 5 fight deal for 100,000 a fight and they go under or there checks bounce like what happen with wfa, then brandon is fucked, im not saying this will happen but im sorry frank shamrock isnt enough to get a company going, yeah he can sell tickets but he dont have the draw of a tito chuck fedor wand any of those

I thought I heard Vera has one fight left on his contract with UFC. If that's true and I was Dana I would make Vera fight Cro Cop with that last fight, watch him get dismantled and say see ya! Have fun over there at Showtime.

Are you kidding me.. I honestly think you all are forgetting that Vera Can Kick just as good as CC. Give me a break... Vera may very well KO CC. he could also kill him on the ground.
