| Matt Wiman vs. Cole Miller in the works for UFC 125 in January Matt Wiman vs. Cole Miller in the works for UFC 125 in January | MMAjunkie.com Quote:
Matt Wiman (12-5 MMA, 6-3 UFC) and Cole Miller (17-4 MMA, 6-2 UFC) are penciled in for the New Year.
MMAjunkie.com (UFC blog for UFC news, UFC rumors, fighter interviews and event previews/recaps | MMAjunkie.com) has learned from sources close to the event that the lightweights have agreed to meet at UFC 125, though no paperwork is signed.
UFC 125 takes place Jan. 1 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and features a lightweight title match between champ Frankie Edgar and challenger Gray Maynard.
It's unknown whether Wiman vs. Miller will grace the event's televised main card.
Wiman is back on the horse after sustaining an arm injury which forced him to withdraw from a fight with Efrain Escudero at UFC Fight Night 22. He was originally designated to meet Mac Danzig, but "The Ultimate Fighter 6" winner sustained a back injury which took him off the card.
Wiman and Danzig first met at UFC 115 and left a question mark in many fans' eyes when referee Yves Lavigne waved off the bout believing that Wiman had put Danzig to sleep with a guillotine choke. Danzig was not unconscious, however, and after a short protest, the two agreed in-cage to fight again.
The rematch now appears to be on indefinite hold. Danzig is scheduled to meet Joe Stevenson at UFC 124.
Prior to the controversial fight at UFC 115, Wiman bested Shane Nelson on points at UFC 107.
Miller, meanwhile, met "The Ultimate Fighter 9" winner Ross Pearson at UFC Fight Night 22 and bucked expectations by outstriking the Brit with a flurry of punches in the second round. As Pearson struggled to recover, the American Top Team fighter leapt on his back and tapped him out. The flashy sequence earned him an extra $40,000 for "Submission of the Night."
It was the second consecutive bonus for Miller, who wowed fans by submitting Dan Lauzon at UFC 108 with a kimura from an inverted triangle. He now has three "Submission of the Night" wins overall and a "Knockout of the Night" under his belt.
| F'N awesome fight here and I will almost guarantee a FOTN here. GREAT GREAT match up.

I'm happy the rematch between Wiman and Danzig ain't happening now. Great match up indeed. Good chance of FOTN for sure. Giving the nod to Miller.

I really like both fighters, but Cole is impressing the hell outta me as of late. I like his attitude, and his abilities that he utilizes regularly. If he can keep it up I see him in contender status just over a year out. Wiman is also great to watch and FOTN is almost a nod.

This is another sick fight to add to the already stacked 125 card.
Miller and Wiman are both very aggressive fighters and both like to control the pace of the fight. This is going to be a fast paced fight, but I see Miller having the advantage in almost all aspects of the fight. I could be wrong though. Either way I'm a fan of both fighters and I agree with the rest of you that this could be FOTN. I just hope we get to see it considering how stacked this card already is.
