Kongo coach today: "He's not a dirty fighter"
From: john joe

Just spoke to Kongo's thai coach at the Wolfslair, Dave Jackson
Loads of comment from him here, extract below; Fighters Only Magazine - The World's Greatest MMA Magazine - News - Wolfslair coach: "Kongo is not a dirty fighter"
“Taking nothing away from Travis Browne, he put on a great performance and made an impressive UFC debut. But I just wanted to address some of the things getting said [on the internet] about Kongo being a dirty fighter,” Jackson told Fighters Only today.
Kongo was deducted a point for repeatedly grabbing Browne’s shorts and fans have been accusing him of being a cheater, using the tactic on purpose until referee Marc Goddard stepped in to take away a vital point which cost him the win.
“I’m not sure that’s right. My take on it is that it was something of a simple honest mistake. He looked to me like he was reaching between Browne’s legs looking to get a position for a high-crotch or something, but just coming away with a handful of shorts each time,” Jackson said.
“I don’t think he was trying to gain an advantage by grabbing shorts. Usually short grabbing is to stop knees but he was ending up with this grip rather than specifically going for it; he was ending up with a worse position really. But I can’t argue with the referee’s decision to dock him a point; at the end of the day he got told to stop and he understands English.”
For what its worth, I can independently confirm that Kongo's back was fcked for his training camp; we've been prevented from filming both in this camp and for the velasquez camp because of injuries he was carrying. In my opinion the guy should take a long time off to try and get sorted. He's doing himself a disservice fighting with these kind of injuries, although obviously money is money

Dirtiest fighter in the game, hands down. Period. Could care less what his coach says.

He was going for high crotch but only got a handful of shorts? that just sounds dirty. Maybe Kongo's obsession with male genitalia and pulling on short is because he is on the "down-low" |

Like I said on an earlier post, he isn't doing himself any favors and inorder to prove the mma community wrong, he needs to completelty demolish a top contender with no questions as to his route to victory.

I've been marinating in this whole Kongo's dirty thing since Saturday night and at the time I was having a Japapeno overdose and really wanted to rewatch the fight without a burning mouth. And you know what, Kongo really bugs me and his incredulousness about his fighting tactics is sooooo frusterating and alot of it has to due with his diluted sense of entitlement and it really showed in the way he fought vs. Browne. There you have the official consistently warning about the trunks and the knees to the junk and Kongo BLATANTLY ignored them. Language barrier is bullshit here, because Kongo's been around long enough to know the basic univeral rules of MMA. Personally, he got that draw based on his namevalue and moreover, had to cheat alot to even get that much.
In a more widespread analysis, it's not as if his victories over Buentello, Hardonk and Al Turk or even his losses to Mir and Velasquez were in anywhere impressive and his style is so tenative, one dimensional and underwhelming, that the fact that he cheats ALOT brings him down soso much lower in my eyes.
Browne and Buentello are prime examples of what Kongo really has to offer, because Buentello is quite undersized and let's face it, past his prime and Browne was raw as heck and not technical on his feet and Kongo still has to resort to these underhanded tactics? And he doesn't dominate? WOW. His game is unrefined and unevolved and is filled with holes and at what point doesn't Dana have to weigh the value of this gatekeeper vs. him headlining for another organization, because I think there's potential that Kongo doesn't offer too much and is more harm than good.

Wut? LOL Every freaking fight this guy is intentionally breaking the rules. You didn't even have to see it in slow motion in the last fight that he was grabbing the shorts after having a point taken away and being warned over and over.
Usually people bitch about all the lies on the internet, this guy gets mad when people tell the truth online.

I just don't care. I think he should fight elsewhere. I honestly don't want to see him in the UFC anymore. He did almost nothing in the fight.
