| Jon Jones won't fight Rashad Evans MMA News - Jon Jones Says He Will Never Fight Rashad Evans Quote:
Dana White's palm likely just slapped off his forehead as rising light heavyweight contender Jon Jones has gone on record and stated that if Rashad Evans were to win the 205lb. title he would be happy to just be the second best because he will never fight his teammate from Greg Jackson's:
"Absolutely not. If Rashad Evans won the belt, which I'm hoping he does, my only goal would be to be the toughest contender there is, and keep whipping butt without being champion. I'd stay at 205 and be the second best. That would be my goal. As I said, I'm hoping he wins, we're very proud of him. I couldn't [fight him], he's my mate. All my dreams and aspirations are in the light-heavyweight division, and I'm growing and getting older, but I have quite some time left in the light-heavyweight division. I have a good work ethic because of the wrestling, cutting weight comes easily to me, so I'll wait until weight-cutting becomes miserable before I step up."
| Yes, this is off the front page of the site but I wanted to bring it to the forum. I think this is ridiculous and what about him saying he will just be the toughest contender? Second best? It's too bad, I would love to see Bones VS Rashad.

Oh and the Divas are a dancin' or should I say wont be... This is fucking ridiculous.
Anyone else not want to act like a professional? This is a sport. Not a fucking war to see who is going to romp on your wife. For fucks sake.

If need be, teammates should be forced to fight! I hate that when they say they won't fight a teammate.

Unlike most I have no problem with fighters refusing to fight teammates. Why should they. They train together everyday and in that training they form a bond and fighting each other could quite possibly break that bond especially if its a title fight. Lets say Rashad does win the title the way the LHW division is stacked its not like he'll keep it for long, then should Bones continue to win he will get his shot at the title.

Their is nothing wrong with people not wanting to fight. Their are more then enough fighters in each division to keep people busy and fans entertained. Was anyone even thinking of Jones fighting Rashad? I wasnt, that is a fight I wasnt even considering.

I'm sorry. I don't see how this is so impossible to believe. Some people will do it, some people won't. Would I throw my best friend, business partner and godfather to my kid under the bus just so I could pad my pockets a little more and be even more dominant in my chosen profession? No. Absolutely not.
If Dana is so frustrated by this expression of camaraderie, why doesn't he implement a new compulsory policy which states EVERY fighter MUST be willing to compete with ANY fighter? Period.

Wanderlei and Shogun gave us an example when they join the Grand Prix the same year. The were willing to fight eachother, unfortunately for us the fight never happend.
That is the attitude of a professional.

i see no problem in sayings this as long as
A its complete bullshit and he would really fight him for the title
or
B see reason A cuz its the only one that makes since.
lhw is stacked enough that these 2 shouldnt ever have to fight unless its for the title. but if rashad has the belt, then jones should step up and fight him. and im willing to bet in 2 years if thats the case, these 2 guys would fight. right now, its irrelevant, cuz jones is atleast a year away from the title.
i have no problem with fitch and kos not fighting exept A kos is fighting for the title and fitch is suppose to be next. and B ww is running thin.
Fitch should either agree to fight for the title or miss out on the possible oppertunity until the next go around. same for jones though.
if he comes up to fight for a contender fight, and he wins and rashad is getting ready to fight for the title, then jones should have to make the same choice. he either wants the title fight or not. you make the choice based on if you want the title fight or not. now pick and choice who you want to fight for the title
that being said. by 2012 Jon "Bones" Jones will be the champion. i like rashad, he is a good fighter, but Jones is better.

last time I checked, Shogun had the belt so I don't see how he'll be fighting Rashad at the moment.
anyways, I love how Carlos Condit said he'd fight GSP. Now, Condit hasn't been at Jackson's all that long but honestly, neither has Jon Jones
