I strongly disagree that Silva has looked all that impressive at LHW. Who'd he beat? Irvin - lets not start a parade quite yet. Griffin - Forrest looked like a down syndrome kid chasing an ice cream truck. GRIFFIN EMPLOYED WORST GAMEPLAN EVER IN THE HISTORY OF MMA IN THAT FIGHT. |
Griffin was a top 5 lhw and many expected him to dominate Silva especially those who seem to think Silva can only win due to his size and reach advantage.
If Griffin showed up with the wrong game plan that is his fault and not a reflection on Silva's performance. If that is your argument we can say the samething about Lesnar/Carwin, Lesnar/Cain (yea Lesnar showed up with the wrong gameplan). Irvin was on drugs... again that is entirely his fault and more importantly he shouldn't have been cleared to fight anyways. Irvings drug addiction is not a reflection on Silva's performance. He would have gotten KTFO anyways. Both Irvin and Griffin got laid out so please stop making excuses for them. Silva made Griffin look like an amateur and that is something that neither Rampage, Shogun or Tito were able to accomplish.

- I don't believe he will ever fight in the UFC as I have stated countless times but still Fedor's surronding hype is very relevant to the discussion.
- Noone is taking away from Fedor's legacy, Silva's legacy, GSPs legacy. The argument is about unjustified hype.
- Strikeforce's hws are better? Which 5 SF heavyweights are you referring to?

For the record I watch UFC, Pride, Sengoku and WFC. You aren't telling me anything new (not by a long shot). While under the UFC umbrella Silva hasn't had to avenge any of his losses because hes undefeated. I don't believe GSP can be crowned or even considered p4p when he usually has the size advantage in 99.9% in his fights while having 2 convincing losses under his belt. Silva has jumped over the same hurdles in his division and has even moved up in weight and remained just as dominant.
If Silva doesn't deserve his hype then theres no way you can say GSP deserves it despite his "avenged losses". If that is the case then surely you would give Lesnar the same chance to rematch Cain and make up for his defeat. Right now under your argument you can't agree that Lesnar is all hype (not without self contradiction)

The UFC has the majority of the best fighters. Show me otherwise.
