| WEC/UFC Merger a good idea?
Today we finally recieved the huge announcement Dana was telling us all about. I, along with others, thought it wouldn't be as big as he said. We were wrong. WEC is going to merge with the UFC... but is this a good idea? Will this mean we'll see less new talent? Does this mean there will be a drastic cut to the WEC LW roster? will the Flyweight Division ever appear? What are your thoughts on this huge announcement?

Heres another question: What fights do you see them setting up? I'd love Bendo and Penn or maybe a Cerrone and KenFlo showdown?

i see it as a good idea for these reasons
wec fighters will propbably get a pay rise
more exposure for the lighter guys and mma as a whole
more events
more titles to be defended
some littler lws have the option of droping down
new tuf with lighter fighters
bad idea for these reasons
cut in the rosters at lw (personnaly dont see them droping any of the fw and bw)
and the possibilty of the flyweight never comming which i was really excited for
thats really all i got on the subject. like carbon said more pros than cons

for the WEC roster its a great thing...
just by being associated by the UFC, they will get increase in pay, more sponsorship money, more viewing audience, more name recognition
Reed has done a great job with the WEC so far and with the resources of UFC, i think we will continue to see more exciting fights at a larger scale..
For the fans..
more fight events, more title matches,
However, unlike the WEC where we didnt hear guys getting cut, the fighters will have to deal with the pressure of winning a lot more to avoid being cut...that could factor into how a lot of fights go.

It is always great to merge top talent into one promotion, just like when Pride was added to the UFC. All of those dream fights became reality.
The one thing I don't like is having too many weight classes now. In the past Dana White was quoted as saying he didn't want to be like boxing with too many weight classes, and he was happy to just have four classes at that time. Now they will be up to 7 weight classes. Do you really need a class every 10 pounds for these little guys 155 and under? I'd do a 155 and a 135 tops.

Its good news for me.. I haven't watched WEC since VS. became unavailable on Direct TV. Since the channel came back I haven't bothered watching WEC. Now I get to watch these guys again..
More fights, bigger roster, more matchups.
I'm a happy camper.
More fights on fight cards?
featherweights, bantamweights on The Ultimate Fighter?
A title fight on almost every card?

better than the idea to have a UFC network, that's for sure.
