| Ex-WEC champ Miguel Torres anxious for UFC paydays, showcasing mullet Ex-WEC champ Miguel Torres anxious for UFC paydays, showcasing mullet | MMAjunkie.com Quote:
With the UFC's announcement Thursday that the WEC's talent is octagon bound, a separate announcement is warranted.
Miguel Torres' mullet is on its way, too.
"It just gives me a bigger audience to show how much of a badass I am and what a cool haircut looks like," Torres (38-3 MMA, 6-2 WEC) told MMAjunkie.com Radio (MMAjunkie.com Radio | MMAjunkie.com) shortly after the huge news.
The former WEC bantamweight champion earlier this year took residence with renowned trainer Firas Zahabi after years of essentially self-coaching. And he saw the immediate benefits of a focused training camp; at WEC 51, he snapped a two-fight skid with a second-round submission victory over veteran Charlie Valencia.
The silky smooth Torres had a feeling he eventually would be fighting in the octagon but was just as surprised as many fans to hear it made official.
"The next couple of years are going to be exciting," he said. "I'm going to be at the forefront of that."
Now, like most WEC athletes crossing over to the industry-leading promotion, he's ready for his close-up, though it's likely he'll be locking horns with many of the same names given the lack of overlap between the UFC and WEC in the 135-pound and 145-pound divisions. Only this time, a lot more people will be watching him fight.
Hopefully, his end-of-the-night check will have a few more zeroes, too.
"It's still under the Zuffa banner, but I'm sure I'll be worth a little more money," Torres said of his current deal.
"I think with time it will get a lot better, especially after the merger. I think I've gotten five bonuses out of seven fights, and that's a huge difference from a $10,000 (WEC) bonus to an $80,000 (UFC) bonus."
Torres next month heads back to Zahabi at Tristar Gym in Montreal for more coaching. But he doesn't yet have an opponent, at least from what he can say on the record.
"They're trying to give me a relevant opponent to get me close to a title shot," he said. "I'll be ready to fight in December or January. Hopefully, (it will be) January."
And now that there are two new weight divisions available to the UFC for future editions of "The Ultimate Fighter," there's an opportunity for Torres to pass along the knowledge he's acquired in 10 years of professional fighting.
Mullets will be mandatory on set.
"I think I'd make an outstanding coach," he said. "A very sexy coach, at that."

| I dont know if I agree with this. Theres a few UFC LWs I could see making the transition down to FW. Edgar, Griffin, Guida, Danzig(Is he still under contract?) I always wanted to see Edgar/Urijah. Two wrestlers, who will stand and bang, but most importantly wont stop.
Anyways theirs a few LWs that could spice up the FW divison. And as Torres said they could always do a all FW or BW TUF.

Torres needs to get his shit back together before he thinks about anything else. Forget the money, the bonuses, the TUF coaching job that may or may not happen. He needs to get back to his winning ways, once touted as a p4p best, he has fallen quite abit. Now that he is a UFC fighter, 2 loses in a row could spell disaster.

Edgar could make the drop, and if he looses to Grey, now that 145 is in the UFC,I see that happening easily.

Ended the weekend I originate two articles all round the problems with the Massachusetts healthfulness care system.
Because Obamacare was modeled after the Massachusetts outline, the failures in Massachusetts are a augury of things to come. I solely like the flawed article, partly because I like Samuelson, and partly because he agrees with me (I believe he reads my blog).
If you assume conscious my previous to posts, there is nothing up to girl in these reports. The Massachusetts procedure, which includes an Obama-like self-possession mandate, has increased the several of insured, effectively among vigorous minor adults. Finally single-payer/government takeover will be the but alternate, which I see fit talk ended later. The rough out of events is surely close to the pr‚cis I primed up in the recent outlined after the better of Obamacare.
No consequence how gentlewoman the underlying intention, truth inveterately prevails. okay, I have to be honest. I normally automatically skip over these non-sense posters, paying no attention at all...
But I read this. And I happen to be tripping at the moment.
Wtf...

I think he's fought at FW before in GC. Didn't he beat Faber for their BW title belt before coming to the UFC? I know I've seen the fight, just cant remember when exactly it was.
Anyway, the guys only 5'6 (like Urijah faber and Frankie Edgar) and has fought at FW before, sure it was earlier in his career, but im sure he could do it again.
Want to talk about huge LWs lets talk about Tibau standing at 5'10 and absoluty packed, or Sanchez when he was at LW, Even lankier guys like Kenflo, Dunham and Diaz are all above 5'10, and are bigger LW's then Griffin.
Griffin just has this muscular appearance, much like Sherk. But if you were to put Griffin and Tibau next to eachother the 4 inch height difference would really show. I think Griffin could make the cut and I would love to see any matchups at FW involving Edgar,Griffin,Torres or Faber, Especially Edgar/Faber

I think if he did the drop now,he would be gassed quickly. But who knows,it could revitalize his career a little.
