Munoz Thinks Silva Will be Champ for Long Time to Come

From Tapology.

“I think Anderson has a lot of years left,” Munoz said. “A large part to how the [Chael Sonnen] fight went was due to the rib injury; he didn’t do anything close to the gameplan we came up with before that fight, so he has a lot more to offer. That wasn’t Anderson Silva that night.”

he's 35 and has no more competition really at mw... i think the boxing talk is all over but i see him retiring in 3 years or so

munoz is also an idiot who thinks he can just shoot for takedowns and without having to set them up with strikes. not very knowledgeable about mma so id take whatever he says with a grain of salt.

On the contrary he is knowledgeable about Silva's performance given they trained together for the Sonnen fight.

As far as Silva being the champion for a long time I think its safe to say hes broken down that barrier already given his title defense record.

Didn't think that was up for debate here?

I say he has a tough challenge ahead with Vitor. IF he gets by him, I don't see another challenge for quite some time.

Agreed and to be honest of all the opponents Silva has ever faced Vitor worries me the most. This is one fight that Silva better not take if hes injured prior.

Yea, I guess I am slightly worried about this fight, but I have a near panic attack before every silva fight :laughing4: If silva is hurt then he BETTER NOT risk this fight. I also hope hes training for vitor's overhand left, thats the only thing im really worried for. I want silva to keep his distance, keep his hands up (unlike his past 3 fights) even if it seems like vitor cant touch him during the fight, throw lots of leg kicks and jabs while moving back, and to utilize his muytai plume if he get in trouble.

Silva offers Okami pretty much nothing. So if they fight for the title Okami is going to take it from him. Silva's only hope in a fight with Okami is to hope Okami suddenly forgets how to wrestle and grapple. Seeing as how that is not going to happen Okami will be champion this time next year.

I can understand why you guys are worried about Vitor, but to be honest I really don't think he's going to topple Silva. Silva has a solid chin he proved that to me taking so many power punches from Sonnen. To me Vitor has to k.o Silva in the first 7 min which i doubt is going to happen. the first 7 because its been awhile since Vitor has cut to 185 so it has a great potential to take a lot out of him and the ring rust may have an effect as well and lets face it Vitor has never really been known for fanatical cardio. Frankly im more worried about Okami blanketing him for 5 rounds. Im a Marquardt fan but after that last fight neither of them truly deserve a title shot. I know im going to get blasted by people saying Okami has been waiting and has a win over him im just saying that fight was very lack luster, no damage done. This is the ultimate fighter not the ultimate controller. Dana has to stop promising title shots before fights so that guys go out and put it on their opponent not playing it safe to get the title shot, cause thats going to lead to playing it safe to get the belt and than playing it safe to keep it.

The problem is Silva tends to fight like his idle Roy Jones JR by keeping his guard down hoping to bait his opponent. It looks pretty when it works but its simply not a good idea against Vitor who unlike Sonnen is relentless in his striking.

If Silva gets stunned there will be no recovery time. Having a good chin is no safeguard for having your equilibrium knocked senseless. Tito has a good chin but that didn't save him from Chucks succession of strikes.

I consider Vitor Silva's most dangerous opponent to date.
